WE MAINTAIN NISSWAS PIONEER VILLAGE, 1908 RAILROAD DEPOT AND A 1950 CABOOSE ON THE PAUL BUNYAN TRAIL. BUILDING INTERIORS AND THE GROUNDS ARE OPEN AND FREE TO THE PUBLIC DURING THE SUMMER. THE GROUNDS ARE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES. THE TOTAL NUMBER USING THE FACILITY DURING THE SEASON IS APPROXIMATELY 4000. THE HISTORY CENTER CONTAINS PHOTOGRAPHS (DISPLAYED AND FILED,) ARTIFACTS, TAPED INTERVIEWS WITH RESIDENTS, VARIOUS TYPES OF WRITTEN RESEARCH, AND BOOKS RELATING TO THE NISSWA MN AREA. IT IS STAFFED DURING REGULAR HOURS BY A VOLUNTEER WHO IS AVAILABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION. APPROXIMATELY 3491 GUESTS VISITED THIS YEAR. WE MANAGE A PIONEER VILLAGE NEXT TO THE HISTORY CENTER WHICH HAS BEEN DONATED TO US IN 2011 INCLUDING VINTAGE BUILDINGS AND LAND. AN ADMISSION FEE IS CHARGED WHICH INCLUDES 2849 PAID ADMISSIONS AND 2500 ADMISSIONS TO FREE EVENTS. A LOCAL 4H GROUP MAINTIANS A HERITAGE GARDEN ON OUR GROUNDS. WE GIVE TOURS AND DEMONSTRATIONS TO YOUTH, PUBLIC SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, SENIOR AND DISABLED GROUPS. THESE TOURS ARE CONDUCTED BY VOLUNTEERS AND TAILORED AS TO CONTENT, TIME, DATE ETC. ATTENDANCE IS APPROXIMATELY 400 GUESTS.
