IN 2020/21 THE OMAHA SYMPHONY'S ACTIVITIES WERE DRAMATICALLY IMPACTED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE OMAHA SYMPHONY SERVED ITS COMMUNITY WITH OVER 70 LIVE CONCERTS OFFERING A DIVERSE RANGE OF CLASSICAL AND POPULAR MUSIC FOR IN-PERSON AUDIENCES; DEVELOPED A SIGNIFICANT DIGITAL INITIATIVE THAT INCLUDED NETWORK TELEVISION BROADCAST AND THE LAUNCH OF SYMPHONYANYWHERE.COM; AND CREATED THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM. THE OMAHA SYMPHONY SERVED MORE THAN 10,000 WITH IN PERSON EVENTS, OVER 100,000 THROUGH ITS DIGITAL INITIATIVES, AND NEARLY 60,000 IN ITS VIRTUAL CLASSROOM; EXCEEDING THE REACH OF A NORMAL SEASON.
OMAHA SYMPHONY EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS SERVE MORE THAN 30,000 PARTICIPANTS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER OMAHA METRO AREA, THE STATE OF NEBRASKA, AND WESTERN IOWA. DEEPLY COMMITTED TO ITS EDUCATIONAL ENDEAVORS, IN ANY GIVEN SEASON 30-35% OF THE ORCHESTRA'S SERVICES ARE DEDICATED TO EDUCATION, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND FAMILY CONCERT EXPERIENCES. THE OMAHA SYMPHONY PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ANNUALLY FOR STUDENTS AGED PRE-K THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE PRE-CONCERT LECTURES AND CONDUCTING SEMINARS FOR MUSIC EDUCATORS. DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE ORCHESTRA DEVELOPED A VIRTUAL CLASSROOM, ENGAGING STUDENTS IN DIGITAL CONCERTS, A LEARNING LIBRARY, AND VIRTUAL VISITS.
