MEDICAL SERVICES THROUGH CAMP MAXIMUM IN ZOLOTONOSHA, UKRAINE, SHEPHERD'S FOUNDATION PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND DISABLED WAR VETERANS TO ATTEND SPECIAL CAMPS AND CONFERENCES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THEIR NEEDS.
SOCIAL SERVICES GRANTS ARE GIVEN TO FOSTER FAMILIES WITH AT-RISK CHILDREN IN UKRAINE. IN 2022, SHEPHERD'S FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE GORYCHENKO FAMILY WHO ARE CURRENTLY RAISING 11 CHILDREN.
CAMP MAXIMUM. SHEPHERD'S FOUNDATION IS CURRENTLY THE LARGEST SUPPORTER OF CAMP MAXIMUM, A CHRISTIAN CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER IN ZOLOTONOSHA, UKRAINE. CAMP MAXIMUM HOSTS ESL CAMPS, SPORTS CAMPS, SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPS, WAR VETERANS' CAMPS, AND FAMILY CAMPS PROVIDING SPIRITUAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES TO THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE AND SURROUNDING COUNTRIES. CAMP MAXIMUM IS ALSO USED AS A RETREAT CENTER FOR CHURCHES AND OTHER LARGE ORGANIZATIONS WHO NEED A FULL-SERVICE FACILITY FOR THEIR CONFERENCE NEEDS. TEAM BUILDING CONFERENCES, PASTOR'S CONFERENCES, FAMILY, AND YOUTH CONFERENCES ARE UTILIZING THE CAMP MONTHLY. IN 2019, THE FIRST YEAR OF FULL OPERATION OF CAMP MAXIMUM, 47 DIFFERENT CAMPS AND RETREATS WERE HOSTED. WITH THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC OF 2020, THIS NUMBER WAS REDUCED TO 22 AND LEFT AMERICAN TEAMS PROHIBITED FROM INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TO ASSIST IN THE CAMPS. IN 2021, THE CAMP WAS BACK TO FULL CAPACITY SURPASSING 2019 BOTH IN TERMS OF USERS AND NUMBER OF PROGRAMS AND BECAME SELF-SUFFICIENT IN THEIR OPERATIONAL COSTS. BECAUSE OF THE CONFERENCE RENTALS, THE CAMP BECAME OPERATIONAL 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. WITH THE OUTBREAK OF WAR IN UKRAINE IN FEBRUARY OF 2022, AND TO FILL A DESPERATE NEED OF THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE, CAMP MAXIMUM WAS CONVERTED INTO A REFUGE RELIEF CENTER PROVIDING EVACUATION, TEMPORARY HOUSING, FOOD, AND MEDICAL CARE FOR THOUSANDS OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED UKRAINIANS. FOOD DISTRIBUTION STRATEGIES WERE IMPLEMENTED TO REACH THOSE THAT WERE UNABLE TO LEAVE THE WAR-TORN AREAS OF EASTERN UKRAINE. STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2022, PLANS WERE DEVELOPED TO BUILD AND HOST PROSTHETIC CLINICS FOR UKRAINIAN MILITARY PERSONNEL AND CIVILIANS WHO HAVE LOST A LIMB(S) AS A RESULT OF THE WAR. THIS NEW BUILDING AT CAMP MAXIMUM WILL HOST ITS GRAND OPENING IN SEPTEMBER OF 2023 PROVIDING MEDICAL AND PROSTHETIC SERVICES TO CIVILIANS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL.IN 2022 AND CONTINUING INTO 2023, SPECIALTY CAMPS FOCUSING ON TRAUMA HEALING FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS AS A RESULT OF WAR ATROCITIES WERE PLANNED AND IMPLEMENTED. THESE CAMPS ARE STAFFED WITH PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGISTS TRAINED IN TRAUMA RELIEF FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS HELPING THEM DEAL WITH THE TRAUMATIC MENTAL HEALTH EFFECTS OF WAR. THE NEED CONTINUES TO GROW DAILY AS THE WAR CONTINUES ON. IN SPITE OF THE WAR CONTINUING ON, THESE CAMPS ARE FULL. THOUSANDS OF LIVES ARE BEING TOUCHED DAILY, WEEKLY, MONTHLY WITH THE GOSPEL THROUGH CAMP MAXIMUM!
