THE 31ST ANNUAL SOLAR BOAT REGATTA WAS HELD AT RILEY LAKE TO EDUCATE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS ON HOW TO APPLY SOLAR ENERGY TO A FUN ACTIVITY. THE STUDENTS BUILT FULL SIZED, SOLAR POWERED BOATS AND SPENT THE DAY RACING THEM THROUGH 3 DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES. WE HAD 11 BOATS RACE FROM 9 SCHOOLS FROM ALL OVER THE STATE. MORE THAN 120 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
MRES PROVIDED INFORMATION ON RENEWABLE ENERGY TOPICS TO OVER 327,358 PEOPLE AT 12 EVENTS IN 2023. IN ORDER TO MEET NEW COMMUNITIES, MRES EXHIBITED AT THE MINNEAPOLIS BOAT SHOW.
MRES WORKED WITH THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY TO TRAIN 80 VOLUNTEERS TO STAFF THE ECO EXPERIENCE AREA OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR. THE VOLUNTEERS EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENT SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES TO OVER 210,000 PEOPLE DURING THE 12-DAY RUN OF THE STATE FAIR. THE MINNESOTA SCIENCE MUSEUM DEEDED MRES A WIND TURBINE / STORAGE EXHIBIT THAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE ECO EXPERIENCE BUILDING, THE NEW EXHIBIT HELPED THE VOLUNTEERS EXPLAINED HOW PERSONAL ACTIONS EFFECT CO2 EMISSIONS AND CLIMATE CHANGE. THESE ACTIVITIES EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON HOW RENEWABLE ENERGY WORKS AND HOW THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN ITS BENEFITS. THIS EDUCATION IS CONDUCTED IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH.
MRES HOSTED THE MINNESOTA SOLAR / SUSTAINABILITY TOUR OF OVER 24 DIFFERENT SITES ACROSS THE STATE OF MINNESOTA. THIS WAS A HYBRID TOUR THIS YEAR. THE SITES OPENED THEIR HOMES AND BUSINESS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC SO THAT THEY COULD SEE DIFFERENT RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES AND ENERGY REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES. THIS ALLOWS PEOPLE TO LEARN ABOUT RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGIES ON A PERSON-TO-PERSON BASIS. ASES REPORTED 10,000 PLUS WEBSITE HITS DURING THE TOUR THIS YEAR.
