THE TRUST MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM DELIVERS HOT, NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO HOMEBOUND SENIORS AND OTHERS WHO QUALIFY FIVE DAYS A WEEK. THE PROGRAM CONTINUED TO DELIVER HOT MEALS AND FROZEN OPTIONS FOR THOSE WHO PREFER. LAST YEAR 100 VOLUNTEERS DELIVERED 30,350 MEALS TO 199 PEOPLE WITHIN TRUST'S SERVICE AREA. THAT EQUATED TO 2,130 TOTAL VOLUNTEER HOURS.
THE TRUST CHORE PROGRAM PROVIDES HOME SERVICES TO SENIORS AND THOSE LIVING WITH A DISABILITY AT A LOWER COST RATE. OVERSEEN BY PROGRAM COORDINATOR, 11 CHORE WORKERS AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE HOUSE CLEANING, SNOW REMOVAL, YARDWORK, AND MINOR HOME REPAIRS. THESE SERVICES MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR PARTICIPANTS TO CONTINUE LIVING SAFELY IN THEIR OWN HOME. THE PROGRAM SERVED 76 PARTICIPANTS LIVING IN SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS DURING 2022.
THE TRUST INC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDED ASSISTED RIDES FOR CLIENTS 55+ AND THOSE WITH DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES RIDES TO GROCERY STORES AND ERRANDS TO LOCAL BUSINESSES, BANKS, CLINICS AND POST OFFICES. WE ALSO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO OUR COMMUNITY INITIATIVES INCLUDING MONTHLY SUNDAY SUPPER, MUSIC PROGRAMS, FLU SHOT CLINICS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS. THOUGH THIS SERVICE, OUR CLIENTS CAN CONTINUE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY. OUR PROGRAM SERVICE AREA DOUBLED IN 2022, AS A RESULT OF DIRECTIVE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO EXPAND INTO UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS IN SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS. OUR 2022 STAFF HAS INCREASED TO FOUR PART-TIME DRIVERS WHO WORKED A TOTAL OF 1040 HOURS AND THREE VOLUNTEER DRIVERS WHO WORK A TOTAL OF 350 HOURS.
THE YEAR 2022, WAS ONE OF RENEWED SERVICES FOR OUR AGENCY AS THE WORLD BEGAN TO EMERGE INTO COMMUNITY SPACE AT THIS POINT IN THE PANDEMIC. MANY OF OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS MOBILITY CHANGED DURING PANDEMIC, REQUIRING THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES TO HELP THEM MAINTAIN INDEPENDENT LIVING. WITH THE INCREASE OF SERVICE AREA AS DIRECTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO INCLUDE ALL OF SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS FROM FRANKLIN AVENUE SOUTHWARD, AND THE INCREASE OF AGING ADULTS, OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES CONTINUES TO EXPAND REQUIRING ADDITIONAL STAFF HOURS, CONTRACT WORKERS AND VOLUNTEERS. TRUST INC NOT ONLY SURVIVED BUT CONTINUED TO THRIVE AS A VALUABLE RESOURCE IN SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS.
