FURTHERMORE, VISIT DULUTH ESTABLISHES NEW INITIATIVES TO INCREASE VISITORS,CONVENTIONS,SPORTING EVENTS, AND COMPETITIONS. VISIT DULUTH STRIVES TO FURTHER ENHANCE AWARENESS OF THE INDUSTRY AND ITS IMPACT ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT.

PROMOTING THE CITY AS A SAFE LEISURE GETAWAY DESTINATION STILL DURING THE PANDEMIC WAS VISIT DULUTH'S LARGEST ALLOCATION IN 2021. DUE TO EXTENSIVE BUDGET CUTS OF MORE THAN 60% CAMPAIGNS WERE MOSTLY PLACED ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND DIGITAL FORMATS. AS TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS EASED, DULUTH IMPROVED IN HOTEL OCCUPANCY IN THE LAST PART OF 2021. VISIT DULUTH CONTINUES TO BUILD A DYNAMIC BRAND ENHANCING DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT, WORKFORCE INITIATIVES AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY.
DIRECT SALES: VISIT DULUTH LEADS THE CITY'S CONVENTION SALES AND SPORTS MARKETING INITIATIVES. DURING THE 2021 RECOVERY YEAR, STAFF CONTINUES TO BE LIMITED TO TWO SALES REPRESENTATIVES. FROM JANUARY-MAY 40 % OF CANCELLATIONS CONTINUED IN THE MEETING/CONVENTION AND SPORTS MARKETS. MOST SPORTING EVENTS RETURNED TO PLAY, AND MEETINGS/CONVENTIONS RETURNED TO IN PERSON ALL IN SMALLER NUMBERS.
DIGITAL MARKETING - VISIT DULUTH'S ONLINE AND SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS CONTINUE AS SUCCESSFUL TOOLS IN ATTRACTING VISITORS TO OUR CITY. A VARIETY OF ENHANCEMENTS, INCLUDING CUSTOMIZED VIDEO CONTENT, WERE IMPLEMENTED DURING THE YEAR, AND REVAMEDP DURING THE WINTER OF 2021. ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY ENABLE VISIT DULUTH TO TRACK THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A CAMPAIGN BY MEASURING VISITS GENERATED AFTER CLICK THROUGHS ON EACH AD, AND THROUGH LINKS ON BOOKING PORTALS AND WEB PAGES.
