SOCIAL JUSTICE CENTER (SJC) SERVES AS AN OFFICE BUILDING FOR LOCAL NONPROFITS CRITICAL TO OUR COMMUNITY AS WELL AS AN INCUBATOR SPACE WHERE SMALLER NON-PROFIT START-UPS CAN GROW THEIR ORGANIZATIONS WITH AFFORDABLE RENT AND ACCESS TO ALL OF THE NECESSARY OFFICE AMENITIES. SJC PROVIDES FISCAL SPONSORSHIPS TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND PROJECTS, AS APPROPRIATE. THE SJC FACILITIES ALSO INCLUDE AN ART GALLERY, COMMUNITY MEETING SPACES, STORAGE FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND A NEIGHBORHOOD RAIN GARDEN. THROUGH SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOVERNANCE, OUR AIM IS TO CREATE AN INSPIRING AND COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT WHERE LOCAL NONPROFITS, ACTIVISTS, ARTISTS AND MEMBERS OF THE MADISON COMMUNITY CAN ACCESS RESOURCES, SUPPORT AND SERVICES NEEDED TO THRIVE.IN 2022, WE HOUSED 14 ORGANIZATIONS AND HOSTED OVER 350 PUBLIC EVENTS/ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING QUARTERLY ART GALLERY EXHIBITIONS FEATURING 25 LOCAL ARTISTS.FISCAL SPONSORSHIP - SJC HELPED 3 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH OUR FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM: THE FREE THE 350 BAIL FUND SEEKS TO PRIORITIZE BAILING OUT BLACK PEOPLE INCARCERATED IN THE DANE COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM, AND ALSO SEEKS TO END THE UNJUST AND ANTIQUATED PRISON AND JAIL SYSTEM IN GENERAL. PRISON ABOLITION IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL, FREE THEM ALL!; THE HOMELESSNESS RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROJECT (HRJ) IS GEARED TOWARD BREAKING THE CYCLE OF TICKETS, ARREST WARRANTS, JAIL TIME, AND RESULTING NEGATIVE LIFE IMPACTS THAT WAS RESULTING FROM MADISON'S CRIMINALIZATION OF HOMELESSNESS. HRJ IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN KABBA RECOVERY SERVICES AND THE MADISON MUTUAL AID NETWORK; GET IT RIGHT EDUCATORS CO-OP IS A WORKER-OWNED COOPERATIVE THAT PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL STAFF TO DEMOCRATICALLY-COMMITTED SCHOOLS AND LEARNING SPACES. GET IT RIGHT IS THE GRAND EXPERIMENT: GIVING POWER TO TEACHERS AND SEEING WHERE THE BEST CHOICES CAN GO. GET IT RIGHT DREAMS OF A NEW WORLD AND PREPARES FOR IT.COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAMS - FREE FOOD & ESSENTIALS PANTRY PROGRAM AND RESOURCE ADVOCACY PROGRAM (HELPING FOLKS CONNECT WITH RESOURCES AND SERVICES) SITUATED WITHIN OUR "COMMUNITY RESOURCE HUB" AN INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE PLACE TO ACCESS KEY RESOURCES AND ESSENTIALS WHILE WORKING WITH ADVOCATES WHO ARE TRAINED IN TRAUMA-INFORMED PRACTICES, CRISIS RESPONSE AND DE-ESCALATION. IN 2022, PANTRY PROGRAM: OVER 3000 PANTRY VISITS, 1500 PACKAGES OF DIAPERS AND 250 HARM REDUCTION KITS DISTRIBUTED.
