32 UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN AHEC SCHOLARS. EACH SCHOLAR COMPLETED 40 HOURS OF COMMUNITY BASED EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND 40 HOURS OF DIDACTIC TRAINING.
MILWAUKEE AHEC PROVIDES LEADERSHIP TO ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES AND ACCESS ISSUES, BY TRAINING CHWS. OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER TRAINING SUPPORTED 12 PARTICIPANTS DURING THE 2020 - 2021 PROGRAM YEAR, EACH OF WHICH ENGAGED IN INTENSIVE IN-PERSON TRAINING FOLLOWED BY SIX MONTHS OF MENTORING AND ON-SITE COACHING. TWO PHARMACY STUDENTS FROM MCW WORKED WITH OUR STAFF TO IMPLEMENT THE AGING MASTERY PROGRAM (AIM) FOR 19 PARTICIPANTS.
MILWAUKEE AHEC MENTORED FOUR TRIUMPH STUDENTS ON THEIR LONGITUDINAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECTS. MILWAUKEE AHEC CONNECTED 11 MEDICAL STUDENTS TO COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN MILWAUKEE, DURING THEIR CHRONIC AND PREVENTIVE CARE ROTATION. THERE WERE 26 CHIP STUDENTS AND 17 OF THEM WERE PAID BY SCHOLARSHIPS THROUGH MILWAUKEE AHEC.
DURING THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR, 46 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN YHSC FOR AN AVERAGE OF 39 HOURS EACH. SEVEN COLLEGE STUDENTS TRAINED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON LEADERSHIP, HEALTH PROMOTION AND DIABETES PREVENTION. EIGHT COLLEGE STUDENTS FACILITATED TEN HEALTH CAREER WORKSHOPS AT FIVE HIGH SCHOOLS.
