THE MISSION OF THE FULL SHELF FOOD PANTRY IS TO SUPPLEMENT THE BASIC FOOD REQUIREMENTS OF THOSE IN NEED THROUGHOUT WASHINGTON COUNTY ON A REGULAR OR EMERGENCY BASIS WITH ITEMS OF THE HIGHEST AVAILABLE QUALITY.

ONGOING FOOD NEEDS ARE PROVIDED TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES OR INDIVIDUALS REFERRED TO THE FOOD PANTRY BY VARIOUS AGENCIES WITHIN WASHINGTON COUNTY. 856 DIFFERENT FAMILIES WERE SERVED ONE TIME OR ON AN ONGOING BASIS DURING 2021. THERE WERE 3,374 TOTAL VISITS FOR FOOD. ALL FAMILIES RECEIVING FOOD MUST BE LOW INCOME. 198 NEW FAMILIES WERE SERVED DURING 2021. THE FOOD DISTRIBUTION IMPACTED 7,564 LIVES WITH 29% OF THOSE BEING CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18, AND 15% SENIOR CITIZENS. IN ADDITION, STOCKBOXES CONSISTING OF 35 POUNDS OF BASIC FOOD ITEMS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO LOW INCOME SENIORS ON A MONTHLY BASIS. A TOTAL OF 842 STOCKBOXES WERE DISTRIBUTED IN 2021. THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BACKPACK PROGRAM SENDS FOOD HOME ON WEEKENDS TO 130 DIFFERENT FAMILIES AND PROVIDES BREAKFAST AND SNACK ITEMS TO THE 5/6 TRANSITIONAL SCHOOL AND THE 7/8 MIDDLE SCHOOLS. FOOD IS PROVIDED WEEKLY TO THE HOMELESS SHELTERS AND TO THE ABUSED WOMEN'S SHELTER ALL LOCATED IN WEST BEND.
