IT IS THE MISSION OF HUDSON COMMUNITY CHILDREN'S CENTER TO PROVIDE QUALITY CHILD CARE IN A NURTURING AND ENRICHING ENVIRONMENT.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
HUDSON COMMUNITY CHILDREN'S CENTER DID NOT HAVE TO CLOSE ANY ROOMS DUE TO COVID OUTBREAKS IN 2022. WE WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN PROTOCOLS OF THE ST. CROIX COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH WITHOUT ISSUE OF CLOSURE. WE DID HAVE SEVERAL CASES IN AUGUST BUT THOSE WERE ABLE TO BE HANDLED THROUGH TESTING AND/OR MASKING OF STUDENTS. YOUNGER STUDENTS THAT WERE NOT ABLE TO WEAR A FACE COVERING WERE REQUIRED TO STAY OUT OF DAYCARE FOR 10 DAYS FROM EXPOSURE. HUDSON HAS BEEN AND STILL IS IN AN INTENSE CRISIS FOR CHILDCARE. OUR WAITLIST FOR THE INFANT/TODDLER ROOM IS AT 12 TO 18 MONTHS FOR EACH OPENING. BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND, WE ARE RECONFIGURING OUR LARGE 4K ROOM INTO TWO SMALLER INFANT/TODDLER ROOMS. BIDS UNDERWAY TARGET FOR REMODEL AND OPENING IS MAY OF 2023. THE 4K PROGRAM REMAINS IN PLACE FOR THE TIME BEING. THE HUDSON SCHOOL DISTRICT IS LOOKING AT OPTIONS TO COMBINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND MAKE A PLACE FOR THE 4K PROGRAM TO BE INCLUDED WITHIN THE ELEMENTARY BUILDINGS THAT ARE BEING UNDERUTILIZED. IT WILL BE SAD IF OUR COMMUNITY-BASED SITES LOSE THEIR ABILITY TO FUNCTION AS BOTH AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE AND STABLE WRAP CARE FOR OUR 4- AND 5-YEAR-OLD STUDENTS. WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, OUR LICENSING AGENCY, HAS CONTINUED TO BE SUPPORTIVE TO CHILDCARE CENTERS AND EARLY CHILDHOOD FUNDING. IT HAS PROVIDED STIPENDS TO QUALIFIED CENTERS TO SUPPLEMENT WORKFORCE RECRUITMENT & RETENTION AS WELL AS GRANTS FOR FACILITY UPKEEP AND UPGRADES. WECA, THE WISCONSIN EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION HAS ALSO MADE FUNDS AVAILABLE TO TEACHERS AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS AS RECOGNITION FOR THEIR VALUABLE SERVICE. HUDSON COMMUNITY CHILDREN'S CENTER HAS MET ALL GUIDELINES AND BEEN ABLE TO UTILIZE THIS FUNDING.
