THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO STRIVE TO ENHANCE AND PROTECT MILWAUKEE COUNTY PARKS, THEIR RESOURCES AND FACILITIES; TO DEVELOPE A WIDER PUBLIC INTEREST IN AND APPRECIATION OF THE PARKS, OPEN SPACES AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES OFFERED BY THE PARK SYSTEM; TO SPONSOR ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS THAT WILL ENABLE CITIZENS OF ALL AGES, INTERESTS AND BACKGROUNDS TO MAKE BETTER USE OF THE COUNTY PARKS; TO ENCOURAGE STEWARDSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUAL PARKS AND FACILITIES BY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS AND TO PLAN PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS TO ACQUAINT THEM WITH THE PARKS AND THEIR POTENTIAL USE.

PARK MARKET: THE PARK MARKET HELPS BEAUTIFY OUR PARKS WHILE ALSO PROVIDING INDIVIDUALS WITH AN UNIQUE WAY TO HONOR SPECIAL PEOPLE OR EVENTS IN OUR LIVES. THE PARK PEOPLE OFFER A SELECTION OF TREES AND BENCHES THROUGH ITS PARK MARKET, THE ONLY PROGRAM IN MILWAUKEE COUNTY THAT ALLOWS A TREE TO BE PLANTED OR A BENCH TO BE PLACED ON YOUR BEHALF IN YOUR FAVORITE MILWAUKEE COUNTY PARK. THE GIFT OF A TREE OR BENCH PROVIDES AN ENDURING COMMEMORATION OF AN EVENT IN ONE'S LIFE. THE TREE PROGRAM ALLOWS YOU TO PLANT A NEW ORNAMENTAL, EVERGREEN OR SHADE TREE. THE BENCH PROGRAM ALLOWS YOU TO SELECT FROM THREE DIFFERENT BENCH STYLES. THE GIFT OF A TREE OR BENCH INCLUDES A COMMEMORATIVE TAG.
PARK PROJECT - DOCTORS PARK IS COMPRISED OF APPROXIMATELY 49 ACRES SITUATED ON THE BLUFF OF LAKE MICHIGAN AND FEATURES A NUMBER OF WAYS TO DESCEND FROM THE PARKING LOT, PLAYGROUND AND SPORTS FIELDS ABOVE TO A SECLUDED BEACH ALONG LAKE MICHIGAN. FOR THE SAFTY AND ENJOYMENT OF ALL PARK GOERS THE CENTRAL STAIRCASE THAT RUNS DOWN THE BLUFF WAS REPAIRED AND RENOVATED TO LAST 90+ YEARS. A PARKS APPROVED CONTRACTOR STRAIGHTENED AND LEVELED 106 STEPS, REPLACING THREE ENTIRELY, REMOVED OLD RAILINGS AND REPLACED 70 POSTS WITH RAILS AND HARDWARE.
MONARCH TRAIL: THE EASTERN UNITED STATES MONARCH BUTTERFLY POPULATION HAS DECLINED BY MORE THAN 80% IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. THE FRIENDS OF MONARCH TRAILS IS WORKING TO SPUR VOLUNTARY MONARCH HABITAT RESTORATION ACROSS THE STATE OF WI. THEY ARE TRYING TO ADD MORE THAN 119 MILLION NATIVE MILKWEED STEMS TO WISCONSIN BY 2038. THE GOAL IS TO INSPIRE AND HELP FARMERS, URBAN AND RURAL RESIDENTS, UTILITIES, AND OTHERS TO HELP PLANT MILKWEED THE ONLY PLANT THAT MONARCH CATERPILLARS CAN EAT.
