AS ONE OF THE BASIC NEEDS, HOUSING IS IMPORTANT TO THE POOR. THE ORGANIZATION HELPS WITH HOUSING IN MANY WAYS. THE MOST FREQUENT REQUESTS ARE FOR RENT ASSISTANCE IN AN EFFORT TO STAVE OFF AN EVICTION. DURING THE YEAR THE ORGANIZATION HELPED 144 CLIENTS BY PAYING LANDLORDS A TOTAL OF 54,219 IN RENT PAYMENTS. IT ALSO HELPED CLIENTS WHO HAD NO PERMANENT HOUSING BY PROVIDING TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR 54 CLIENTS BY PAYING 12,584 TO MOTEL OPERATORS ALLOWING THESE CLIENTS MORE TIME TO FIND MORE STABLE HOUSING. THIRTEEN CLIENTS WERE ASSISTED WITH HOUSING RELATED MATTERS TOTALING 3,371 FOR ASSISTANCE WITH MOVING EXPENSES, SECURITY DEPOSITS, MORTGAGE PAYMENTS AND OTHER ITEMS.
THE OTHER EXEMPT PURPOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS EXPENSE CATEGORY CONTAINS MOST OVERHEAD COSTS IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THE NON-PROFIT'S MISSION WHICH IS TO SERVICE THOSE IN NEED THROUGH PERSON-TO-PERSON CONTACT AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATE MONETARY ASSISTANCE TO HOUSEHOLDS IN NEED FUNDED THROUGH DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC AND THE OPERATION OF A THRIFT STORE.
INDIRECT SUPPORT CHECKS WERE WRITTEN TO THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY OF MILWAUKEE, WI TOTALING 30,048 TO ASSIST THEIR CLIENTS WITH RENT, ENERGY ASSISTANCE, FOOD, UTILITIES, TRANSPORTATION, ETC. THE ORGANIZATION DONATED 1,500 TO THE NATIONAL SVDP DISASTER RELIEF FUND AND 3,400 TO ANOTHER SVDP PROGRAM THAT HELPS IN LOS TOROS.
