HEALTHY LIVING: THE Y IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH, AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, AND FUN SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT, 5,300 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH IN SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. THIS IS PARTICULARILY IMPORTANT AS OUR NATION STRUGGLES WITH AN OBESITY CRISIS, FAMILIES STRUGGLE WITH WORK/LIFE BALANCE AND INDIVIDUALS SEARCH FOR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GUIDE THE HEALTH SEEKER IN THEIR JOURNEY TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE, AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABIITIES AND INCOME LEVELS. IN 2021, OUR YMCA PROVIDED 28% OF OUR Y MEMBERS WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SO THEY COULD PARTICIPATE IN THE YMCA.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL CHILDREN DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OUR YMCA PROGRAMS INCLUDE CHILD CARE, YOUTH SPORTS EDUCATION AND TEAM PLAY, SWIM LESSONS AND WATER SAFETY, GYMNASTICS, SUMMER DAY CAMP AND SPECIALTY CAMPS, AND OUTDOOR EDUCATION. ALL PROGRAMS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH. THE SHEBOYGAN COUNTY YMCA IS PROUD TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS THE LARGEST CHILDCARE PROVIDER FOR YOUTH 6 WEEKS THROUGH FOURTEEN YEARS OF AGE. OUR YMCA PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIP MEMBERSHIPS AND PROGRAM ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN THAT ARE AT-RISK AND FACE ECONOMIC BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATE. 28 PERCENT OF THE CHILDREN WE SERVE RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: OUR YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 83 YEARS. Y PROGRAMS, SUCH AS LIVESTRONG AT THE Y, TOGETHERHOOD, NATURAL RESOURCE GRANT IMPLEMENTATION FOR GREAT LAKES OUTREACH AND EDUCATION, IRRADICATION OF INVASIVE SPECIES, SHORELINE RESTORATION, AND SHEBOYGAN RIVER CLEAN UP. WE DELIVER TRAINING, RESOURCES AND SUPPORT THAT EMPOWER OUR NEIGHBORS TO AFFECT CHANGE, BRIDGE GAPS AND OVERCOME OBSTACLES. IN 2021, WE ENGAGED 5,200 Y MEMBERS, AN ADDITIONAL 10,000 COMMUNITY PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS IN ACTIVITIES THAT STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY AND PAVE THE WAY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO THRIVE.
