CHILDCARE - PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY CHILD CARE BY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOL THROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN DRAWING ON DIVERSE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES BOTH FULL AND PART TIME OPTIONS TO SERVE A WIDE RANGE OF SCHEDULING NEEDS.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS - THESE PROGRAMS IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF THE COMMUNITY BY ENCOURAGING AND ENABLING ADULTS AND YOUTH TO LIVE HEALTHIER LIVES THROUGH A COMBINATION OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, NUTRITION, SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, FUN, FELLOWSHIP AND FRIENDSHIP. HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOCUS ON HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. IN ADDITION TO UTILIZING YMCA RESOURCES, THESE PROGRAMS ALSO UTILIZE COLLABORATIONS WITH LOCAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO ADDRESS ISSUES SUCH AS DIABETES, OBESITY AND PROVIDING EXERCISE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FOLKS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. IN LIGHT OF THE RISING OBESITY RATES IN THIS COUNTRY, OUR YMCA PARTICIPATES IN THE ACTIVATE AMERICA INITIATIVE AND ENGAGES IN A VARIETY OF EVENTS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO HELP THE "AT RISK POPULATION" DEVELOP HABITS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO MORE ACTIVE, HEALTHY LIFESTYLES.
SPORTS - YMCA'S SPORTS, EDUCATION, AND RECREATION PROGRAM AREA AIMS TO ENHANCE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH SPORTS-RELATED PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. PROGRAMS INCLUDE BASKETBALL, FLAG FOOTBALL, FLOOR HOCKEY, INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SOCCER, T-BALL, SOFTBALL, BASEBALL, VOLLEYBALL, MARTIAL ARTS, SWIMMING, GYMNASTICS, HANDBALL, RACQUETBALL, AND ULTIMATE FRISBEE. YOUTH SPORT PROGRAMS AND LEAGUES ARE OFFERED TO BOYS AND GIRLS 3 TO 18 YEARS OF AGE. ALL PROGRAMS PROMOTE THE YMCA'S SEVEN PILLARS OF EVERYONE PLAYS, SAFETY FIRST, FAIR PLAY, POSITIVE COMPETITION, FAMILY INVOLVEMENT, SPORT FOR ALL AND SPORT FOR FUN. THESE PILLARS TRANSLATE INTO AND PROMOTE CHARACTER VALUES OF CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, AND RESPONSIBILITY.
