MERCY EDUCATION PROJECT IS A FEMALE-CENTRIC SPACE DEDICATED TO PERSONAL GROWTH AND STABILITY, WHERE QUALITY EDUCATION, ACCESS TO RESOURCES, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND EMPOWERMENT ARE THE VEHICLES FOR THEIR FUTURE SUCCESS. MEP BELIEVES EVERY WOMAN AND GIRL HAS THE RIGHT TO BOUNDLESS OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES NECESSARY TO BE EDUCATED NO MATTER THEIR BACKGROUNDS, BELIEFS, OR SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION.

GIRLS' PROGRAM- MERCY EDUCATION PROJECT PROVIDED REMEDIAL, CURRICULUM-BASED, AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING IN READING AND MATH, COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS PROGRAMMING (CCR), GET-IT TECHNOLOGY CLUB, LEGO LEAGUE AND THE EMERGING LEADERS SUMMER CAMP TO 97 GIRLS IN GRADES TWO THROUGH TWELVE FROM LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS IN SW DETROIT. 75% OF YOUTH WHO PARTICIPATED IN AND COMPLETED THE AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM YEAR SHOWED ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 2,880 HOURS OF SERVICE IN GIRLS' PROGRAM TUTORING AND ACTIVITIES. 100% OF YOUTH COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS DEMONSTRATED INCREASED KNOWLEDGE OF COLLEGE AND CAREER OPTIONS AND A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO PURSUE THEM. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT (100%) OF THE 12TH GRADERS IN THE CCR PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND WERE ACCEPTED INTO ONE OR MORE COLLEGES.
WOMEN'S PROGRAM- MERCY EDUCATION PROJECT PROVIDED ADULT BASIC EDUCATION, GED PREPARATION, EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS, AND WORKFORCE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TO 140 WOMEN. 5 VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTORS AND TUTORS PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 900 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER GROUP INSTRUCTION AND/OR ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING OF ADULT STUDENTS. 12 WOMEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR GED. 50% OF OUR WOMEN TRANSITIONED TO COLLEGE, JOB TRAINING OR EMPLOYMENT COMPARED TO THE FEDERAL TARGET OUTCOME MEASURE OF 42%. MEP WOMEN EXCEEDED BY 11% THE STATE'S PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES IN NRS LEVEL 3 (50% V. 39%) AND CAME WITHIN 0.11% (38.89% V. 39%) OF MEETING THE STATE'S PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES IN NRS LEVELS 1 & 2.
