LEGISLATIVE PROGRAMS INCLUDED SUPPORT FOR PROPOSALS THAT WOULD ADVANCE OR PRESERVE CIVIL LIBERTIES AND OPPOSITION TO PROPOSALS THAT WOULD HARM CIVIL LIBERTIES, USING MEANS SUCH AS ANALYZING PROPOSED LEGISLATION, DRAFTING AND PRESENTING TESTIMONY, CONTACTING LEGISLATIVE OFFICES, AND STIMULATING GRASSROOTS CONTACT WITH LEGISLATORS. WHILE THESE ACTIVITES ADDRESSED MANY CIVIL LIBERTIES ISSUES, PRIORITY WAS GIVEN TO ISSUES THAT RELATED TO PRIVACY, REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, RELIGIOUS LIBERTY AND BELIEF, FREE SPEECH, EQUAL PROTECTION AND ANTI-DISCRIMINATION, AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
