TO PROVIDE TRAINING FOR GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND TO ENHANCE PHYSICAL AND MORAL WELL BRING THROUGH PHYSSICAL FITNESS ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS VARIOUS CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES TO EDUCATE SUCCEEDING GENERATIONS IN CZECH & SLOVAK LANGUAGE & CULTURE.

SOKOL DETROIT PROVIDES MANY ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE FAMILY VALUES FOR OUR MEMBERSHIP, AS WELL AS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE PURPOSE OF THESE EVENTS ARE TO SOCIALIZE AND LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY OF OUR ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS TO PARTICIPATE IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES. WE PUBLISH A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, TO PLAN OUR FUTURE EVENTS A ND PROGRAMS, AND COMPILE RELEVANT AND HISTORICAL INFORMATION. THIS IS DISTRIBUTED TO THE MEMBERSHIP AS WELL AS ANY OTHER INTERESTED GENERAL PUBLIC.


TO TEACH, PROMOTE AND PRESERVE CZECH AND SOLVAK HERITAGE AND CUSTOMS. TO MAINTAIN THE CZECH AND SLOVAK HERITAGE AND CUSTOMS THROUGH PUBLIC DISPLAYS, ETHNIC FOODS, CONSTUMES, MUSIC, DANCING, BOOKS, MAPS, AUTHENTIC CRYSTAL, AND JEWELRY. ALL ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AT OUR ANNUAL CZECH AND SLOVAK FESTIVAL. INFORMATION ON GENELOGY IS ALSO AVAILABLE. THE CZECH DINNER PARTY IS AN AFTERNOON OF MUSIC, DANCING, ETHNIC CUSINE, SINGING IN BOTH CZECH AND SLOVAK LANGUAGES, AND AN EDUCATIONAL SKIT ABOUT CZECH AND SLOVAK CUSTOMS. IT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. CZECH LANGUAGE CLASSES BEGIN EACH FALL AND ARE ATTENDED BY MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS. THE PUBLIC IS ALWAYS WELCOME AT OUR HERITAGE PROMOTING EVENTS.


PHYSICAL FITNESS CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR AGES 5 YEARS OLD THROUGH 80+YEARS. CLASSES ARE OPEN TO MEMBERS AND THRIR CHILDREN, AND THE PUBLIC. THEY CONSIST OF GYMNASTIC INSTRUCTION, TUMBLING, AEROBICS, AND SYNCHRONIZED MOVEMENTS. THERE ARE GYMNASTIC DISPLAYS, AND EXHIBITION, AND COMPETITIONS. OUR PARTICIPANTS COMPETE SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR EITHER LOCALLY, NATIONALLY, OR INTERNATIONALLY. THE TEEN CLUB HOSTS MANY SOCIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPONSOR MANY FAMILY ORIENTED WEVENTS SUCH AS THE CAMP PICNIC AND THER ST. PATRICKS DAY SOCIAL.
