Part 3
THE GREATER ROCHESTER TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL BRINGS TOGETHER AUTHORS WHO WRITE FOR TEENS FOR A DAY LONG (FREE TO ATTEND) FESTIVAL. THE FESTIVAL IS MAINLY TARGETED TOWARD TEENS (GRADES 6- 12), BUT IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND OFTEN ATTRACTS TEACHERS, PARENTS, LIBRARIANS AND OTHER EDUCATORS. THE DAY INCLUDES WRITING AND DRAWING WORKSHOPS, TEEN FILM FESTIVAL SHOWINGS AND AUTHOR PRESENTATIONS, INCLUDING TEENS WHO HAVE PUBLISHED BOOKS. THE FESTIVAL ALSO OFFERS MANY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEENS. PLANNING IS A YEAR-ROUND EVENT. TBF HAS PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, WRITING AND LITERACY GROUPS AND A LOCAL BOOKSTORE.AFTER HAVING A VIRTUAL FESTIVAL IN 2021, WE REALLY WANTED TO RETURN TO AN IN-PERSON FESTIVAL IN 2022. IN ORDER TO HAVE MORE TIME TO PLAN THE EVENT, WE MOVED THE FESTIVAL FROM MAY 2022 TO SEPTEMBER 2022. MUCH OF 2022 WAS SPENT RE-ESTABLISHING OUR PUBLISHER CONTACTS, LINING UP AUTHORS, FINDING AN OUTDOOR EVENT SPACE TO MITIGATE COVID CONCERNS, APPLYING FOR AND RECEIVING A GRANT AND SEEKING DONATIONS. EVERYTHING IS FALLING IN PLACE FOR OUR FALL FESTIVAL.
