PROVIDE FOR THE PROMOTION AND STUDY OF THE ARTS AND TECHNOLOGIES PERTAINING TO THE PRINTED BOOK AND RELATED TEXTUAL OBJECTS SUCH AS ARTISTS' BOOKS, BROADSIDES, EPHEMERA, MANUSCRIPTS, MAPS AND PAMPHLETS.

MEETINGS(LECTURES AND PRESENTATIONS) A TOTAL OF 23 CULTURAL AND COLLABORATED WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ON 4 OTHERS. SPEAKERS WERE AUTHORS, RESEARCHERS OR AUTHORITIES ON LITERARY OR BOOK-RELATED SUBJECTS. THE CAXTON =PRODUCED PROGRAMS AIRED FOR REMOTE VIEWING VIA ZOOM AND WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC FREE OF CHARGE. FIVER OF THE PROGRAMS WERE PRESENTED TO LIVE AUDIENCES. THE CLUB CONTINUED TO PURSUE AN EXPANDED AUDIENCE BY SEEKING DIVERSITY IN THE PROGRAM CONTENT. VIEWER REGEISTRATIONS TOTALED OVER 3,500, INCLUDING 1,000 BY MEMBERS AND OVER 2,500 BY NON-MEMBERS.
JOURNAL AND PUBLICATION: THE CLUBS BI-MONTHLY PUBLICATION: THE CAXTONIAN, FEATURES ARTICLES ON SUBJECTS RELATED TO BOOK COLLECTING, BOOK ARTS, PUBLISHING, RESEARCH AND LITERATURE INTERVIEWS WITH MEMBERS ABOUT THEIR COLLECTIONS, AND LISTINGS OF BOOK-RELATEDEHHIBITS AND EVENTS. THE PUBLICATIONS EDITOR IS A MEMBER VOLUNTEER WHO DONATED APPROXIMATELY 200 HOURS OF TIME TO THE EFFORT. THE PRINT VERSION OF THE CAXTONIAN IS MAILED TO ALL MEMBERS. IT IS ALSO REPRODUCEWD DIGITALLY AND THE CURRENT ISSUE IS POSTED ON THE CLUB'S WEB SITE(CAXTONIACLUB.ORG; A DIGITIAL ARCHIVE IS AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS. THIS YEAR A SEARCHABLE INDEX WAS ADDEDTO THE MEMBERS' ACCESS. THE CAXTONIAN IS NOW ALSO AVAILABLETO THE PUBLIC ON ITS OWN WEBSITE, CAXTONIAN.ORG.
GRANT AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.FIVE BOOK ARTISTS WERE AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING 6,988, BASED ON THEIR PROJECT SUBMISSIONS; TWO GRANTS OF 2,500 EACH WERE GIVEN TO ORGANIZATIONS(UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA'S RARE BOOK SCHOOL AND THE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA) TO BE AWAREDED AS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BOOK RELATED STUDIES.
THE CLUB SEVERAL INITIATIVES AIMED TO FOSTER BOOK ARTS, BOOK SCHOLARSHIP, AND BOOK COLLECTING. THE ORGANIZATION'S WEBSITE IS THE VIRTUAL HOME OF THE CAXTON CLUB AND SERVES AS ITS COMMUNICATIONS BASE WITH MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC. CAXTON CLUB CULTURE WAS AFFECTED BY THE CHANGE FROM IN-PERSON TO REMOTE PARTICIPATION IN PROGRAMS AND EVENTS, A TRANSITION MADE IN RESPONSE TO PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS OVER RECENT YEARS. CAXTON CLUB'S ARCHIVE OF THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS, PUBLICATIONS, POSTERS, AND OTHER ARTIFACTS IS MAINTAINED AT THE NEWBERRY LIBRARY AND IS UNDER THE DIRECTION AND CONTROL OF THE NEWBERRY STAFF.
