TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE ART EDUCATION AND VISUAL ARTS THROUGH CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, GALLERY EXHIBITS AND FREE PUBLIC PROGRAMS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE DUPAGE ART LEAGUE (DPAL) OFFERS CLASSES IN MANY VARIOUS ART MEDIUMS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN. THERE ARE 3 SUMMER SESSIONS, 2 FALL SESSIONS AND 3 WINTER/SPRING SESSIONS. THE MOST COMMON CLASSES ARE IN DRAWING, WATERCOLOR, OIL PAINTING, PASTELS, COLORED PENCIL, ACRYLICS, AND PEN AND INK. TEACHERS AT THE DPAL HAVE EXTENSIVE BACKGROUNDS AND QUALIFICATIONS. THERE ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN WHO ARE UNABLE TO PAY THE CLASS TUITION. A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM EXISTS FOR MILITARY VETERANS.


DPAL, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WHEATON LIBRARY, FACILITATED FREE PROGRAMS, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, FROM SEPTEMBER TO APRIL (EXCEPT DECEMBER). ARTISTS AND EXPERTS CONNECTED WITH THE ARTS DEMONSTRATE, LECTURE AND SHARE THEIR ART SKILLS. PROGRAMS IN THIS YEAR INCLUDED PASTEL PORTRAITS, WATERCOLOR WITHOUT RULES, PAINTING WITH FABRIC, WATERCOLOR WITH ANIMALS, INSPIRED ACRYLICS, WORD PORTRAITS AND HOW SURFACES IMPACT ACRYLIC PAINTING. IN ADDITION, FOR MEMBERS, DPAL ARRANGES THEMED MONTHLY EXHIBITS (EXCLUDING NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER) FOR ALL ART MEDIUMS.


SPECIAL WORKSHOPS OCCUR WITH A VARIETY OF ARTISTS, OFTEN SOME WHO ARE NATIONALLY KNOWN. THE WORKSHOPS MAY VARY FROM ONE DAY TO A WEEK IN LENGTH.
