Part 3 - Line 4a
SCHOOLS AND RESTAURANTS SUPPORTING AND GUIDING STUDENT GROUPS WHO WISH TO WORK WITHIN THEIR SCHOOLS FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE DINING. SWITCHING FROM SINGLE-USE TO REUSE IS EMPHASIZED BUT BOOSTING COMPOSTING AND RECYCLING IS ALSO IN SCOPE. EMPHASIS SWITCHED FROM RESTAURANTS TO SCHOOLS DURING THE YEAR AS SCHOOLS HAVE MORE CONCENTRATED MASSES OF WASTE AND DUE TO THE LONG TERM BENEFITS OF ESTABLISHING SUSTAINABLE HABITS IN YOUNG PEOPLE. WE ARE WORKING WITH STUDENT GROUPS AT 4 SCHOOLS.
CROWDSOURCING DINERS HELP OTHER DINERS FIND BETTER RESTAURANTS VIA AN APP. APPROXIMATELY 590 SUSTAINABILITY AUDITS WERE COMPLETED IN THREE METRO AREAS DURING THE YEAR. THE CITY OF AUSTIN HAS USED THE DATABASE FOR OUTREACH PROGRAMS TARGETING STYROFOAM. SINCE INCEPTION IN 2022 MORE THAN 1,200 AUDITS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS ON MORE THAN 600 RESTAURANTS.
EDUCATION PROVIDED LARGELY THROUGH EDUCATIONAL CONTENT ON OUR WEBSITE BUT WE ALSO REGULARLY SPEAK TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ON SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS. SINCE INCEPTION IN 2022 WE HAVE ENGAGED WITH MORE THAN 1,000 INDIVIDUALS AT MORE THAN 20 EVENTS AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS.
