AUWSF SUPPORTS THE EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN FROM ACROSS ASIA AND THE MIDDLE EAST IN A MULTICULTURAL AND MULTIFAITH RESIDENTIAL SETTING LOCATED IN CHITTAGONG, BANGLADESH. IT OFFERS UP TO TWO YEARS OF PRE-UNIVERSITY TRAINING FOLLOWED BY AN UNDERGRADUATE LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES PROGRAM. IT SERVES STUDENTS FROM 18 COUNTRIES.

ASIAN UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN WITH SUPPORT FROM AUWSF AND OTHER PARTNERS HAVE CONTINUED TO PROGRESS IN THE DELIVERY OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AT THE UNIVERSITY. THE EMERGENCE AND PERSISTENCE OF COVID-19 HAVE KEPT CLASSES ONLINE WITH ONLY A SMALL GROUP OF STUDENTS STILL STAYING ON CAMPUS. HOWEVER, PREPARATIONS ARE UNDERWAY TO START CLASSES IN PERSON IN JANUARY 2022. THE FACILITIES ARE BEING REFURBISHED AFTER A LONG HIATUS OF EVERYTHING BEING CLOSED.AUW IS EXPLORING OPTIONS FOR CREATING A NEW MASTER'S IN EDUCATION PROGRAM AIMED AT ENHANCING CAPABILITIES OF YOUNG WOMEN TO COME INTO GROUPS AND CREATE MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN COMMUNITIES WHERE FEW SCHOOLS EXIST. SIMILARLY, TO ASSIST WITH THE EDUCATION OF HISTORICALLY DISENFRANCHISED GROUPS, AUW IS CONTEMPLATING EXTENDING ITS COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAMS BY ANOTHER YEAR.DR. BEENA KHURANA, A BERKELEY PHD IN COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY, HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS THE INCOMING DEAN OF ARTS AND SCIENCES. A SEARCH FOR A NEW DEAN OF HUMANITIES AND ANOTHER DEAN OF SCIENCES IS UNDERWAY.WHEN IT RE-OPENS FOR IN-PERSON CLASSES IN JANUARY 2022, AUW EXPECTS TO HAVE NEARLY 1200 STUDENTS FROM 18 COUNTRIES ATTENDING AUW.
