THIS WILL ESTABLISH AN ENDOWMENT TO BRING MUSICIANS AND MUSIC SCHOLARS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO THE CUNY GRADUATE CENTER, LOCATED IN MANHATTAN. THE DONATION WILL SUPPORT CONCERTS, TALKS, SYMPOSIA, AND FESTIVALS FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ALUMNI FROM CAMPUSES THROUGHOUT THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, AS WELL AS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.B. THE LEON LEVY FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE LEON LEVY CENTER FOR BIOGRAPHY AT THE CUNY GRADUATE CENTER WITH A GENEROUS GIFT OF $750,000. ESTABLISHED IN 2007 AS A HUB FOR WRITERS, SCHOLARS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND READERS OF BIOGRAPHY, THE LEON LEVY CENTER FOR BIOGRAPHY BUILDS CONNECTIONS BETWEEN INDEPENDENT AND UNIVERSITY-AFFILIATED BIOGRAPHERS ACROSS DISCIPLINES AND CULTIVATES IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE ART AND CRAFT OF BIOGRAPHY HISTORICALLY AND IN OUR TIME.THE LEON LEVY CENTER FOR BIOGRAPHY SPONSORS A VARIETY OF EVENTS AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS, AND OFFERS FOUR FELLOWSHIPS ANNUALLY TO FUND THE RESEARCH AND WRITING OF OUTSTANDING BIOGRAPHIES AND TWO FELLOWSHIPS TO CUNY DISSERTATION STUDENTS WRITING BIOGRAPHY.C. THE OTTO AND FRAN WALTER FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED AN ENDOWMENT WITH A $250,000 GIFT. THE ENDOWMENT SUPPORTS THE OTTO AND FRAN WALTER MEMORIAL LECTURE THAT ADDRESSES THE CONCERNS OF THE EVENT'S NAMESAKE WITH EUROPEAN AND TRANSATLANTIC AFFAIRS. EACH YEAR, AN HONORED SPEAKER WITH A TRACK RECORD OF INSIGHTS INTO EUROPE AND TRANSATLANTIC RELATIONS IS INVITED TO GIVE THE LECTURE FOR A WIDE PUBLIC AUDIENCE AT THE GRADUATE CENTER.
