EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM: SOUTH SUBURBAN PADS PROVIDES FREE OVERNIGHT HOTEL ACCOMMODATION, 3 MEALS PER DAY, CASE MANAGEMENT, ASSISTANCE WITH HOUSING AND PUBLIC BENEFITS APPLICATIONS, HEALTHCARE COORDINATION, SCHOOL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN, AND TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS.
PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING - THE PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAMS PROVIDE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES AND HOUSING TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. THE PROGRAMS ARE IDEAL FOR FAMILIES THAT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR RENT AND UTILITY SUBSIDIES AND WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (I.E. CRISIS INTERVENTION, PERSONALIZED CASE MANAGEMENT, EMPLOYMENT SEARCH AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHCARE COORDINATION, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, FINANCIAL EDUCATION, LIFE SKILLS, COOKING AND NUTRITION CLASSES, COMPUTER SKILLS, AND TUTORING FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN). SSPADS MANAGES EIGHTY-THREE (83) OWNED RENTAL UNITS AND PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO NUMEROUS OTHER UNITS THROUGHOUT SOUTH SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
PREVENTION AND RAPID REHOUSING - THE PREVENTION AND RAPID REHOUSING PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT, TEMPORARY RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO HELP INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AVOID BECOMING HOMELESS AND TO HELP HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS TO MOVE BACK INTO SUSTAINABLE HOUSING.
INTAKE & SUPPORTIVE SERVICES - INTAKE IS THE COORDINATED ENTRY PROCESS THAT STANDARDIZES AND EXPEDITES THE PROCESS BY WHICH PEOPLE EXPERENCING HOMELESSNESS OR WHO ARE AT RISK OF BECOMING HOMELESS ACCESS SHELTER, HOUSING, AND HOMELESS RESOURCES PROVIDED BY VARIOUS AGENCIES SERVING SOUTH SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY ILLINOIS. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES ARE WRAP-AROUND SERVICES FOR BOTH SHELTER AND HOUSING CLIENTS TO HELP THEM WORK TOWARD GREATER SELF-SUFFICIENCY. EXAMPLES ARE NOTED IN THE DESCRIPTION OF PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING. HOMELESS CLIENTS ARE ENGAGED AT LIBRARIES, HOSPITALS, RETAIL PARKING LOTS, FOREST PRESERVES, AND OTHER LOCATIONS TO INFORM THEM OF EMERGENCY SHELTERS AND OTHER RESOURCES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE THEM WITH SHELTER AND PROGRAMS THAT CAN AID IN ENDING THEIR HOMELESSNESS.
