SCHOOL BASED SERVICES: THE CHILD ADVANCEMENT PROJECT ("CAP"), ESTABLISHED IN 1989, MATCHES NURTURING COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER MENTORS WHO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO CHILDREN GRADES K-12. THESE CAP MENTORS WORK ONE-ON-ONE WITH CHILDREN TO INCREASE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL COMPETENCY AND TO ENHANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACADEMIC CHALLENGE. CAP MENTORS HELP STUDENTS ESTABLISH MEANINGFUL GOALS AND DEVELOP A BELIEF IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL UNIQUENESS AND THEIR ABILITY TO SHAPE THEIR OWN FUTURES. THE PARENT LIAISON PROGRAM, ESTABLISHED IN 1995, ENCOURAGES A STRONG LINK BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL TO ENABLE PARENTS AND TEACHERS BECOME PARTNERS TO NURTURE CHILDREN'S SUCCESS. PARENT LIAISONS ARE PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK AS PART OF A SCHOOL TEAM.
PARENT PROGRAMS: THRIVE'S PARENT PLACE PROGRAM, ESTABLISHED IN 1997, PROVIDES EDUCATION, INFORMATION, SUPPORT, AND RESOURCES TO ALL PARENTS TO SUPPORT HEALTHY CHILD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND HELP LOCAL FAMILIES THRIVE. THE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT, DESIGNED IN 1994, NURTURES YOUNG FAMILIES THROUGH THRIVE'S HOME VISITING PROGRAM WHERE PARTICIPATING FAMILIES RECEIVE PARENT EDUCATION, LIFE SKILLS, ASSISTANCE ACCESSING COMMUNITY RESOURCES, AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO GROW.
GIRLS FOR A CHANGE: GIRLS FOR A CHANGE, ESTABLISHED IN 1998, INSPIRES GIRLS TO CREATE CHANGE IN THEMSELVES, EACH OTHER, AND THE WORLD AROUND THE. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRLS GRADES 8-12 TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES TO EMBRACE THEIR FUTURE AND FEEL CONFIDENT IN THEIR ABILITY TO CREATE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORLD THEY WANT. IN ADDITION TO GIRLS FOR A CHANGE, THRIVE OPERATES A LOCAL GIRLS ON THE RUN CHAPTER WHICH, SINCE 2012, HAS PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL GIRLS GRADES 3-5 TO BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND GAIN LEADERSHIP SKILLS WHILE TRAINING TO FINISH A 5K RACE.
