FOUNDED IN 1979 GREENHOUSE SHELTER IS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR 300 ADULTS AND CHILDREN VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. SERVICES INCLUDE 24-HOUR HOTLINE FOR MORE THAN 3,000 CALLERS COUNSELING, LEGAL ADVOCACY, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING, REFERRALS AND INFORMATION, FAMILY TRAUMA THERAPY AND HOUSING ASSISTANCE. SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES.
SINCE 2000 HUMBOLDT PARK OUTREACH PROGRAM HPOP HAS OFFERED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OUTREACH AND WALK-IN/BY APPOINTMENT BILINGUAL SERVICES IN FOR 350 INDIVIDUALS. SERVICES INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, LEGAL ADVOCACY, FAMILY TRAUMA THERAPY, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, EDUCATION AND PREVENTION IN SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY. HPOP SERVES APPROXIMATELY 350 ADULTS AND CHILDREN.
HOSPITAL CRISIS INTERVENTION PROJECT HCIP IS A 1992 COLLABORATION WITH THE HEALTH AND HOSPITAL SYSTEMS OF COOK COUNTY LOCATED AT STROGER HOSPITAL AND NEWLY ESTABLISHED LOCATION AT NORTHWESTERN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. HCIP PROVIDES CRISIS INTERVENTION AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFERRED BY MEDICAL STAFF AND OFFERS ON-GOING TRAINING FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS ON THE APPROPRIATE IDENTIFICATION, ASSESSMENT AND REFERRAL OF ADULTS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF ABUSE. HCIP SERVES 260 ADULTS IN PERSON, 150 HOTLINE CALLERS AND TRAINS 2,500 HEALTH PROVIDERS.A FULL TIME COUNSELORWORKS AT HAYMARKET CENTER, PROVIDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EDUCATION AND COUNSELING FOR MORE THAN 150 ADULTS RECEIVING INPATIENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT.
