SIMB'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF MICROBIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AS APPLIED TO INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS AND PROCESSES. IT PROMOTES THE EXCHANGE OF SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION THROUGH ITS MESSAGE AND PUBLICATIONS AND SERVES AS LIAISON AMOUNG THE SPECIALIZED FIELD OF MICROBIOLOGY.

DURING 2021, THE SIMB MEMBER MAGAZINE, SIMB NEWS, WAS PUBLISHED QUARTERLY, BOTH IN PRINT AND ONLINE. SIMB CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN ITS WEBSITE AT THE HEADQUARTERS.SIMB ALSO PRODUCED THE PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY VIA SPRINGER PUBLISHERS, WHICH IS PROVIDED TO ALL SIMB MEMBERS AS WELL AS OTHER ORGANIZATIONS.SIMB VIRTUALLY HELD ITS ANNUAL MEETING AND HELD A SPECIAL CONFERENCE: THE 43RD ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM ON BIOMATERIALS, FUELS AND CHEMICALS (SBFC).THE SIMB HEADQUARTERS PROVIDED SUPPORT AND INFORMATION SERVICES TO ITS MEMBERSHIP THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
