ELMHURST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL (HOSPITAL OR EMH) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES ACUTE AND NONACUTE INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT CARE TO RESIDENTS OF EASTERN DUPAGE AND WESTERN COOK COUNTIES. FOUNDED IN 1926, ELMHURST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL HAS EXPANDED ITS SERVICES AND HAS SEVERAL CONVENIENTLY LOCATED CARE CENTERS TO BETTER SERVE ITS PATIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND NUMEROUS COMMUNITIES. THE FULLY INTEGRATED MEDICAL CAMPUS, LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF YORK STREET AND ROOSEVELT ROAD IN ELMHURST, IS SITUATED ON A HIGHLY ACCESSIBLE 50-ACRE SITE AND INCLUDES AN ACUTE CARE HOSPITAL WITH ALL PRIVATE ROOMS, OUTPATIENT SERVICES IN THE ELMHURST MEMORIAL CENTER FOR HEALTH AND A VARIETY OF PHYSICIAN OFFICES IN NEW MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDINGS.
ELMHURST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION (FOUNDATION) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1980 AS THE OFFICIAL FUNDRAISING AND GIFT RECEIVING ARM OF ELMHURST MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE (EMHC). THE FOUNDATION ENCOURAGES AND RECEIVES CONTRIBUTIONS THAT ARE USED TO ENHANCE THE DELIVERY OF HIGH QUALITY, COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES FOR THOSE WHO LIVE AND WORK IN THE COMMUNITIES SERVED BY EMHC. THE FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHES THIS THROUGH FUNDRAISING EVENTS, SUCH AS THE ANNUAL AUTUMN AFFAIR GALA, AND PROGRAMS, SUCH AS THE GRATEFUL PATIENT PROGRAM, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE FOUNDATION AS A WAY FOR PATIENTS TO SHOW THEIR THANKS AND APPRECIATION FOR THE CARE THEY RECEIVED AT EMHC BY MAKING A DONATION. DONATIONS TO THE FOUNDATION ARE KEY IN SUPPORTING BUILDING PROJECTS, PROGRAMS SUCH AS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, ENHANCING SERVICES AT THE NANCY W. KNOWLES CANCER CENTER, AND JUMPSTART YOUR HEALTH - A LIFESTYLE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM TO PREVENT THE ONSET OF DIABETES, AS WELL AS PURCHASING STANDARD OF CARE EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGIES.
