TO PROMOTE THE EDUCATIONAL AND ARTISTIC GROWTH OF ITS MEMBERSHIP BY PROVIDING MUSICAL ENRICHMENT, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, TO PROMOTE MUSIC IN THE SOUTH BEND AREA, AND TO SUPPORT THE OBJECTIVE OF THE MUSIC TEACHERS NATIONAL ASSOCIATION AND THE INDIANA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION. THE ASSOCIATION SHALL NOT BE ORGANIZED OR OPERATED FOR THE BENEFIT OF PRIVATE INTERESTS, AND NO PART OF ITS NET EARNINGS SHALL INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF OR BE DISTRIBUTABLE TO ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, OR OTHER PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS EXCEPT TO PAY REASONABLE COMPENSATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED. SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS - SOUTH BEND AREA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION THROUGH THE HARTMAN STICKLEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO TALENTED STUDENTS WHO ARE MAJORING OR MINORING IN MUSIC IN COLLEGE. SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS ARE ALSO GIVEN TO OTHER NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND MUSIC TEACHERS IN THE AREA THAT ADVANCE THE VALUE OF MUSIC IN KEEPING WITH THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION STATEMENT.
MUSIC COMPETITIONS - SOUTH BEND AREA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SPONSORS THE STICKLEY PIANO COMPETITION HELD ANNUALLY. THIS YEAR 33 STUDENTS RECEIVED MONETARY AWARDS.
MUSIC EVENTS, FESTIVALS & ENSEMBLES - SOUTH BEND AREA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUALLY THE ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC FESTIVAL, AIM, WHEREIN THEY IMPLEMENT THE INDIANA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION GUIDELINES FOR EVALUATING ALL LEVELS OF PIANO STUDENTS IN KEYBOARD, THEORY AND PERFORMANCE SKILLS. IN PAST YEARS THE SBAMTA HAS HOSTED A MULTI-KEYBOARD ENSEMBLE CONCERT IN WHICH PIANO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES PARTICIPATE. ALSO, STUDENT RECITALS HAVE BEEN HELD FOR AREA TEACHERS & STUDENTS TO PERFORM. MONTHLY PROGRAMS OF INTEREST ARE PROVIDED FOR SBAMTA MEMBERS ENRICHMENT. OVER THIS PAST YEAR THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HAS LIMITED SOME OF THESE ACTIVITIES.
