THE SPECIFIC AND PRIMARY PURPOSE FOR WHICH THIS CORPORATION IS FORMED IS TO OFFER GIRLS RESIDING WITH IN ITS JURISDICTION (ELEVEN COUNTY AREA) AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GIRL SCOUT PROGRAM, MOVEMENT IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WHICH IS TO BUILD GIRLS OF COURAGE, CONFIDENCE AND CHARACTER, WHO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE AND TO THAT END DEVELOP, MANAGE, AND MAINTAIN GIRL SCOUTING THROUGHOUT THE AREA OF ITS JURISDICTION, IN SUCH MANNER AND SUBJECT TO SUCH LIMITATIONS AS PRESCRIBED BY THE GOVERNING DOCUMENTS OF GIRL SCOUTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND BY THE TERMS OF THE CHARTER GRANTED TO THIS CORPORATION BY GIRL SCOUTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA IS THE WORLD'S PREEMINENT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED SOLEY TO GIRLS- ALL GIRLS - WHERE, IN AN ACCEPTING AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT, GIRLS BUILD CHARACTER AND SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN THE REAL WORLD. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMITTED ADULT VOLUNTEERS, GIRLS DEVELOP QUALITIES THAT WILL SERVE THEM IN THE DURATION OF THEIR LIVES, SUCH AS: LEADERSHIP, STRONG VALUES, SOCIAL CONSCIENCE, AND CONVICTION ABOUT THEIR OWN POTENTIAL AND SELF-WORTH. GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHWEST INDIANA'S SMALL, FULL TIME STAFF OF 18, WORKING WITH MORE THAN 1,500 ADULT VOLUNTEES, PROVIDES A WIDE VARIETY OF PROGAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR ITS 6,200 GIRL MEMBERS THROUGHT ITS ELEVEN-COUNTY JURISDICTION, IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA. TO ENHANCE AND IMPLEMENT SPECIAL PROGRAMS, SUCH AS AFTER-SCHOOL OUTREACH EFFORTS AND SUMMER CAMPING.
GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHWEST INDIANA PROVIDES A WELL-TRAINED AND THOROUGHLY VETTED CORPS OF ADULT VOLUNTEERS WHO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EMPLOYED STAFF TO DELIVER GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE TO GIRL MEMBERS. THE EMPLOYED STAFF IS CAREFULLY SELECTED AND RECEIVES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOMPMENT THAT ALLOWS THEM TO GUIDE, INSTRUCT, AND DIRECT VOLUNTEER ADULTS WHO WORK WITH GIRLS. ADULT VOLUNTEERS, WHO SERVE AT ALL LEVELS IN THE COUNCIL, ARE RECRUITED, SUPERVISED, AND TRAINED FOR THEIR WORK.
