TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENTIFIC AND ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE THROUGH EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP TRAINING GRANTS, GRANTS TO ENABLE K-12 TEACHERS TO BRING MATERIALS INTO CLASSROOMS, GRANTS TO ASM STUDENT CHAPTERS, AND ANNUAL RECOGNITION AWARDS TO HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS. THE SIGNATURE PROGRAM IS ASM MATERIALS CAMP. THIS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM HAS SERVED OVER 2,000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND ALMOST 1,000 HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHERS. THE PROGRAM TYPICALLY INVOLVES 40+ HOURS OF LAB-BASED,HANDS-ON INSTRUCTION, SCHEDULED OVER 5 DAYS. BOTH RESIDENTIAL ANDNON-RESIDENTIAL FORMATS ARE OFFERED. ALL PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED AS APUBLIC SERVICE AT NO COST TO THE PARTICIPANT.

Part 3 - Line 4a
PROGRAMS INCLUDE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS, UNDERGRADUATE DESIGN COMPETITION, AND OTHER UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS, IN ADDITION TO K-12 PROGRAMS. THE ASM FOUNDATION'S SIGNATURE PROGRAM IS ASM MATERIALS CAMPS WHICH HAVE SERVED ALMOST 18,000 STUDENTS AND OVER 12,000 TEACHERS SINCE INCEPTION. THE PROGRAM INVOLVES 40+ HOURS OF HANDS-ON LAB INSTRUCTION OVER FIVE DAYS, BOTH IN RESIDENTIAL AND COMMUTER FORMATS. ALL TEACHERS PARTICIPATE AT NO COST TO THEM AND RECEIVE SUPPLIES TO TAKE BACK TO THEIR CLASSROOMS. THE GENERAL PUBLIC BENEFITS FROM AN INFORMED PUBLIC AND THE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FIELDS BENEFIT FROM AN INCREASED NUMBER OF YOUNG ADULTS CHOOSING THESE CAREER PATHS.
