TO EDUCATE, PREVENT, AND TREAT SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONG MINORITIES IN SUMMIT COUNTY, OH

DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION:EXPENSE ARE INCURRED TO ASSIST CONSUMERS THROUGH CLINICAL SERVICES (TREATMENT) AND COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION SERVICES (PREVENTION). THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO RESIDENTS OF SUMMIT COUNTY, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE MINORITY COMMUNITIES. THE AGENCY PROVIDED CLINICAL SERVICES TO 158 CONSUMERS AND COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION SERVICES TO 1,932 CONSUMERS. IN ADDITION, 53 CONSUMERS WERE ASSISTED THROUGH THE AGENCY'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THE LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, IN VARIOUS DETENTION FACILITIES, AT HEALTH FAIRS AND AT COMMUNITY AGENCIES, SUCH AS THE AKRON URBAN LEAGUE AND THE AKRON OPPORTUNITY CENTER. IN ADDITION, THE YOUTH PARTICIPANTS ARE AFFORDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF AN 8-WEEK SUMMER PROGRAM DESIGNED TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE YOUTH WITH COPING SKILLS TO RESIST THE USE OF DRUGS, VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND OTHER SKILLS, WHILE HELPING TO PROMOTE WELLNESS AND POSITIVE SELF ESTEEM.THE CLINICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT PROVIDES SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OF SUMMIT COUNTY DAILY 8:30 AM TO 9:00 PM. THE AGENCY IS THE ONLY PROVIDER IN SUMMIT THAT OFFERS AN EVENING INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM.THE AGENCY IS CERTIFIED THROUGH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICES IN THE AREAS OF PREVENTION AND TREATMENT. IN ADDITION, THE AGENCY IS ACCREDITED BY THE JOINT COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION:TRAINING AND EDUCATION EXPENSES PROVIDE COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND AWARENESS WITH REGARDS TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION TO OVER 140 SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROFESSIONALS.
