CLASSROOM AND COMMUNITY BASED FACILIATED PREVENTION EDUCATION TO INCREASE INDIVIDUAL RESILIENCE AND REDUCE THE RISK OF SUBSTANCE AND VIOLENCE ABUSE (E.G. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, POSITIVE DECISION-MAKING); PROVIDED PRIMARILY IN SCHOOLS, BUSINESSES, AND THE COMMUNITY. PROGRAMS ARE MEASURED ACCORDING TO HOW THEY DEMONSTRATE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THEIR KNOWLEDGE SCORE AND ATTITUDE SHIFTS BETWEEN THE PRE AND POST TESTS; MEANING THEIR ATTITUDES IMPROVED AND THE KNOWLEDGE INCREASED; AND IF THEY WERE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT BETWEEN THE TWO TESTING TIMES BASED ON T-TEST ANALYSES.
PROJECT SUCCESS/CROSSROADS (PSCR) SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAMS: THE PSCR STAFF MENTORED 714 STUDENTS, MANY OF WHOM WERE REMOTE STUDENTS, FROM 31 SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY. SOME OF THE 2021-2022 RESULTS THAT SHOWED MAINTAINED/IMPROVED ARE: 57% UNDERSTOOD ANOTHER'S POINT OF VIEW; 56% COMMUNICATED WITH PEERS; 54% SOUGHT HELP FROM ADULTS; 58% HANDLE STRESS AT HOME/SCHOOL; 56% SPEAK CALMLY DURING A DISAGREEMENT AND 67% RESISTED/SAID "NO" TO PEER PRESSURE. DATA ON GRADES, ATTENDANCE, AND DISCIPLINARY INCIDENTS WAS NOT COLLECTED DUE TO LIMITATIONS OF COVID-19.
CHC SERVED 82 OF THE 93 SCHOOLS IN LEHIGH COUNTY AND 47 OF THE 55 SCHOOLS IN NORTHAMPTON COUNTY WITH LIAISON SERVICES, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, MATERIAL DISSEMINATION, NEWSLETTERS, OTHER COMMUNICATIONS, TEAM MAINTENANCE, AND EVALUATION SERVICES THROUGH THE STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SAP). OUR COMMONWEALTH APPROVED TRAINING PROGRAM CERTIFIED 88 NEW SAP PROFESSIONALS.
