STELLA MARIS' MISSION IS TO PROVIDE TRANSFORMATIONALCHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO ANYONE REGARDLESS OF RACE, RELIGION, GENDER OR ABILITY TO PAY.

MEDICAL DETOXIFICATION IS THE FIRST STEP TO MEDICALLY STABILIZE A PATIENT IN ACTIVE WITHDRAWAL FROM ALCOHOL AND OTHER CHEMICALS. 20 SUB ACUTE BEDS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF PHYSICIANS, 24 HOUR NURSING STAFF, COUNSELORS, AND A DIETICIAN PROVIDE INPATIENT CARE INCLUDING A HISTORY AND PHYSICAL, BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENT, MEDICATIONS, LABORATORY SERVICES AND AN INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT PLAN INCLUDING DISCHARGE PLANNING TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF CARE FOR ONGOING TREATMENT FOR RECOVERY FROM ADDICTION. THE POPULATION IS PRIMARILY MEDICALLY INDIGENT AND/OR HOMELESS MEN AND WOMEN 18 YEARS OR OLDER WITH NO ACCESS TO HOSPITAL BASED CARE.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING IS PROVIDED FOR CLIENTS REFERRED FROM DETOX AND OTHER AGENCIES WHO ARE HOMELESS AND NEED RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT. 46 MALE AND 17 FEMALE BEDS ARE UTILIZED IN A THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY WHICH PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT, INTENSIVE DAY TREATMENT, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, AND EDUCATION REGARDING ADDICTION AND RELAPSE PREVENTION. DISCHARGE CRITERIA REQUIRE STABLE SOBER HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT BEFORE RETURNING TO THE COMMUNITY."
OUTPATIENT TREATMENT SERVICES INCLUDE DAY AND/OR EVENING CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR CLIENTS NOT REQUIRING RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT. AFTERCARE AND FAMILY SUPPORT EDUCATION AND TREATMENT SERVICES ARE ALSO PROVIDED. STELLA MARIS ALSO HOSTS APPROXIMATELY 27 MEETINGS PER WEEK FOR THE RECOVERY COMMUNITY.
RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT IS FOR CLIENTS REFERRED FROM DETOX AND OTHER AGENCIES WHO NEED 24 HOUR MONITORING FOR THEIR PRIMARY CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT NEEDS. COUNSELING AND MEDICAL SUPPORT ARE PROVIDED DAILY AND A PSYCHIATRIST FOLLOWS ALL CLIENTS. ADJUNCTIVE THERAPIES AND RECOVERY SUPPORT ARE INCLUDED IN THE WEEKLY STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM.
