BIOLOGY INTEGRATION AND OUTREACH FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION'S (BIOSE) MISSION IS TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN LIFE SCIENCE TO THE PEOPLE OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND THE GREATER CINCINNATI AREA AND PROMOTE SCIENCE EDUCATION.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROVIDE LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS, AND ECOTOURISM IN CENTRAL AMERICA. ECOTOURISM PARTICIPANTS VISIT MOUNTAIN RAINFORESTS, VOLCANIC SITES, NATURAL HOT SPRINGS, AND OCEAN LOCATIONS. PARTICIPANTS OBSERVE AND LEARN ABOUT THE NATIVE PLANTS, ANIMALS, AND OVERALL BIODIVERSITY OF THE REGION.


PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN LIFE AND NATURAL SCIENCES AT THE P-16 LEVELS. MOST PROGRAMS ARE ADAPTED TO THE SPECIFIC INTERESTS OF THE GROUPS AND EDUCATORS; INCLUDING CONCEPTS FROM THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION'S CORE CONTENT AND BOY SCOUT BADGE REQUIREMENTS. BIOSE PROGRAMS INVOLVE HANDS-ON AND INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING WHERE THE STUDENTS CAN APPLY THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO SPECIFIC PROBLEMS. ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED THAT LINK NATURAL SCIENCE WITH HUMAN HISTORY.


THE ARBORETUM PROJECT WILL CREATE, PROMOTE, AND MANAGE HIDDEN HILL ARBORETUM IN SPRINGBORO, OHIO. THE ARBORETUM IS PRIOR SITE OF HIDDEN HILL FARM, AND THE FIRST CERTIFIED ARBORETUM IN WARREN COUNTY, OHIO. THE WORK PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEERS AT THE LOCATION IS FOCUSED ON MANAGING THE LANDSCAPE FOR WILDLIFE HABITAT AND FUTURE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. BIOSE DOES NOT OWN THE PROPERTY BUT IS FOCUSED ON CREATING A SITE THAT WILL SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION'S EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH MISSION.
