THE HEMLOCK SOCIETY OF SAN DIEGO (HSSD) IS AN ORGANIZATION WITH OVER 300 ACTIVE MEMBERS IN AND OUTSIDE OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY. HSSD IS PROVIDES FREE PUBLIC EDUCATION ON END-OF-LIFE CHOICES AND ADVANCE CARE PLANNING THROUGH PUBLIC MONTHLY MEETINGS. THESE MEETINGS ARE HELD IN PERSON AND ON ZOOM WITH AN AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 150 PEOPLE FROM MANY PARTS OF THE U.S. WE ALSO HOST A FREE PUBLIC FILM SCREENING AND RIGHT TO DIE DISCUSSION EVERY OTHER MONTH. IN ADDITION TO COMMUNITY EVENTS, HSSD PUBLISHES A NEWSLETTER DISTRIBUTED EVERY OTHER MONTH TO MEMBERS. HSSD ALSO MAINTAINS A WEBSITE AND YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH VIDEOS OF OUR MEETINGS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION ON END-OF-LIFE ISSUES. THIS MATERIAL IS FREELY AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS WORLDWIDE. HSSD ALSO MAINTAINS A PHONE LINE AND EMAIL ACCOUNT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC ABOUT END-OF-LIFE ISSUES AND PROVIDE 1-ON-1 COUNSELING AT NO COST. WE ARE MEMBERS OF THE WORLD FEDERATION OF RIGHT TO DIE SOCIETIES AND OUR BOARD MEMBERS ATTEND THEIR ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO STAY ABREAST OF THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE GLOBAL RIGHT TO DIE MOVEMENT. FINALLY, HSSD RAISES MONEY AND CONTRIBUTES TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN END-OF-LIFE ISSUES.
