Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
CARING COMPANIONS - OUR NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS (OR CARING COMPANIONS) FELL DURING THE PANDEMIC, DUE MOSTLY TO CHANGING LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR MANY PEOPLE. WE CONTINUED TO MARKET THE PROGRAM VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEWS OUTLETS, HOSTING MONTHLY ZOOM TRAININGS TO GET NEW VOLUNTEERS ON-BOARDED BEFORE THE FLOODGATE OF NEEDS CAME. OUR ANNUAL ONLINE TRAINING VIDEO FOCUSED ON ANTI-BIAS/ ANTI-RACISM, AND BRINGING LIGHT TO THE SYSTEMIC RACISM THAT HAS HAUNTED CHILD WELFARE FOR DECADES. WE ARE PROUD THAT OUR VOLUNTEERS CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS WORK, THEY ARE WILLING TO TAKE A LOOK INSIDE AND ASK THEMSELVES WHAT THEY CAN BRING TO THE NATIONAL CONVERSATION ABOUT RACE.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O. BASIC NEEDS - WHILE MANY STATE CHILD WELFARE OFFICES REMAINED SHUTTERED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OFFICE MOMS & DADS (OMD) WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO FILL CLOTHING CLOSETS AND MAKE RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO CAREGIVERS. THE PRESSURES OF REMOTE LEARNING AND CONTINUED SOCIAL RESTRICTIONS MADE THESE RESOURCES EVER MORE PRECIOUS. FOR EXAMPLE, OMD PROVIDED INTERVIEW OUTFITS TO 40 TEENS IN WALLA WALLA, WA, DELIVERED FOOD TO FOSTER PARENTS IN VANCOUVER, WA, AND CUSTOM BOXES OF NEW CLOTHING TO KIDS IN CARE IN SOUTH SEATTLE.NURTURING ENVIRONMENTS - INTAKE NUMBERS FOR CHILDREN ENTERING CARE DECLINED DURING THE PANDEMIC, SO OMD TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE LULL TO REFRESH MANY OF THE DRAB SPACES WE NORMALLY WATCH CHILDREN IN. THESE PROJECTS SET US UP FOR SUCCESS FOR THE COMING YEAR WHEN NUMBERS BEGAN TO SHARPLY INCREASE.
