HAVEN KIDS WE WORK WITH AN NGO IN LIBERIA (HIS SAFE HAVEN LIBERIA) TO PROVIDE FOSTER CARE FOR 30 ABANDONED CHILDREN WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS. THE NGO USED THE GRANTS WE PROVIDED ALONG WITH ANOTHER $22,018.75 FROM A SECOND 501(C)3 (HOPE FOR HOME) TO COVER THE COSTS OF 7 FULL TIME AND 3 SUBSTITUTE FOSTER MOTHERS, FOOD PREPARED BY 4 COOKS, SECURITY PROVIDED BY 6 INDIVIDUALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES, HOUSING AND THE OTHER PHYSICAL NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN. HOPE FOR HOME ALSO COVERS THE COSTS OF THREE PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANTS AND A THERAPY ASSISTANT WHO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE FOR THE CHILDREN AND ASSIST WITH THE HOPE OF HAVEN PROGRAM (SEE 4C)
BUILDING PROVIDED A GRANT TO THE NGO SO THAT THEY COULD BUILD ANOTHER FOSTER HOME ON THEIR LAND.
HOPE OF HAVEN THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING, SUPPORT AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES WHO ARE CARING FOR THEIR OWN CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. THIS YEAR FUNDS PROVIDED TO THE NGO WERE USED TO ASSIST THREE FAMILIES WITH FOOD, SUPPLIES, FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND WEEKLY VISITS WITH OUR PROGRAM STAFF. WITH THIS PROGRAM, ONE OF THE GOALS IS TO TRY TO HELP THE FAMILIES BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT SO THEY CAN "GRADUATE" OUT OF THE PROGRAM.
