AOA IS LAND CONSERVANCY DEDICATED TO PROTECTING OPEN SPACE, FARMLANDS, AND NATURAL AREAS IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN OHIO. AOA WORKS WITH PROPERTY OWNERS TO ESTABLISH CONSERVATIONS EASEMENTS, AND/OR ACQUIRE FEE LANDS.

1.AOA CONFERRED WITH 20 LANDOWNERS WHO ARE POTENTIAL CONSERVATION EASEMENT, FEE-PROPERTY OR CLEAN OHIO GRANT PARTICIPANTS. PREPARED DRAFT DOCUMENT FOR ONE EASEMENT DONOR. TITLE REVIEWS INITIATED FOR 8 PROJECTS. 2.AOA COMPLETED THE NEGOTIATION AND PURCHASE OF 2,049 ACRES OF LAND LOCATED IN FAIRFIELD, FRANKLIN, HIGHLAND, HOCKING, JACKSON, PICKAWAY AND VINTON COUNTIES THROUGH CLEAN OHIO OPEN SPACE AND OEPA AND OSFWS GRANTS. ONE CONSERVATION EASEMENT PURCHASE TOTALING 23 ACRES WERE ALSO COMPLETED USING CLEAN OHIO FUNDS AND ONE 82 ACRE DONATED CONSERVATION EASEMENT. 3.AOA NOW HAS A TOTAL OF 6,240 ACRES IN 64 CONSERVATION EASEMENTS AND 7,114 ACRES IN 85 FEE PROPERTIES. TOTAL ACRES MANAGED BY AOA IN 2021 ARE 15,403. 4. AOA PREPARED THREE GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE CLEAN OHIO OPEN SPACE FUND FOR THE SCIOTO RIVER FLYWAY PROJECT, BIG DARBY CREEK AND PICKAWAY COUNTY AND ONE OHIO EPA WRRSP GRANT APPLICATION. COORDINATED GRANT PLANNING WITH THE COLUMBUS METRO PARKS, PICKAWAY COUNTY PARK, OHIO EPA AND THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.


EDUCATION: 1.AOA OFFERED 24 FIELD TRIPS TO SHOW CASE AREAS PRESERVED BY AOA AND PROVIDED EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENTS TO PUBLICIZE THESE FIELD TRIPS. 800 PERSONS ATTENDED 2.AOA STAFF MEMBERS, 1 BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED THE LAND TRUST ALLIANCE NATIONAL LAND TRUST CONFERENCE BY ZOOM REMOTE DIGITAL CONFERENCING. 3.AOA BOARD AND STAFF MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN ONE LAND PRESERVATION MEETING. (COLT STATEWIDE MEETING).
