Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE FRIENDS OF SAINT FRANCIS IS A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION CREATED TO PROMOTE THE COMPASSION OF JESUS CHRIST FOR ALL OF GOD'S CREATION. WE ARE NON-PROFIT AND NON-DENOMINATIONAL. OUR ORIGINAL MISSION WAS TO PROMOTE THE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. TODAY, OUR MISSION IS NOW THREE-FOLD: 1) TO EVANGELIZE THE VALUES OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI. OUR EVANGELIZATION PROGRAM CONSISTS OF SHARING THE VALUES OF SAINT FRANCIS WITH THE COMMUNITY THAT WE SERVE. IN ADDITION WE PROMOTE A SECULAR CONCEPT CALLED "VOLUNTARY SIMPLICITY" WHICH ADVOCATES A NON-MATERIALISTIC WAY OF LIFE AND A RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. 2) TO PROMOTE ANIMAL WELFARE. OUR ANIMAL WELFARE PROGRAM PROMOTES THE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. IN ADDITION, WE HELP THE POOR WHO CANNOT AFFORD VETERINARIAN SERVICES OR FOOD FOR THEIR PETS. 3) TO PROVIDE MATERIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE POOR. OUR MATERIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES TO PURCHASE MATERIAL NEEDS AT A FRACTION OF THEIR NORMAL COST.
