STUDENT PROGRAMS: TO SUPPORT CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND ENGAGE STUDENTS IN INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING, OEP DEVELOPED TWO NEW STEM DESIGN CHALLENGES. BOTH CHALLENGES EXPLORED RENEWABLE ENERGY AND THE ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS. THE KIDWIND DESIGN CHALLENGE FOR GRADES 7-12 IMPACTED 53 TEACHERS AND 2,067 STUDENTS. THE MACGYVER WIND LIFT CHALLENGE FOR GRADES 3-6 IMPACTED 79 TEACHERS AND 5,019 STUDENTS. OEP'S CAREERS IN ENERGY PROGRAMS ALSO MOVED FROM AN IN-PERSON TO VIRTUAL FORMAT. FIVE VIRTUAL EVENTS WERE FACILITATED INCLUDING VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS AND EXPERT PANELS EXPLORING CAREERS IN THE ENERGY INDUSTRY. 298 TEACHERS IMPACTED 10,295 STUDENTS THROUGH THESE ONLINE PROGRAMS. ALL EVENTS WERE RECORDED AND AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING ON OEP'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
TEACHER PROGRAMS: OEP INVESTS IN EDUCATORS' PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BY PROVIDING CURRICULUM AND CLASSROOM LAB EQUIPMENT. TEACHERS PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES ALIGNED TO OHIO'S LEARNING STANDARDS. OEP OFFERED 20 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS TO 189 EDUCATORS IMPACTING 8,135 STUDENTS.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS: THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS EXPLORE THE IMPORTANCE OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY. TEACHERS RECEIVE AWARD-WINNING CURRICULUM, CLASSROOM MATERIALS, AND TRAINING SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCESSFULLY PREPARE THEIR STUDENTS TO BECOME ENERGY LEADERS AT HOME, AT SCHOOL, AND IN THEIR WIDER COMMUNITY. STUDENTS RECEIVE AN ENERGY EFFICIENCY KIT TO TEACH THEIR FAMILIES HOW TO BE WISE ENERGY CONSUMERS AT HOME 345 EDUCATORS PARTICIPATED, IMPACTING 22,509 STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
