THE PURPOSE OF THE JOHN PHILIP SOUSA FOUNDATION IS TO ENCOURAGE EXCELLENCE IN BANDS AND BAND MUSIC. THIS IS GENERALLY DONE THROUGH RECOGNITION AND THE COMPILATION OF A BAND COMPRISED OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM THE US WHO TOUR INTERNATIONALLY.

KANSAS HIGH HONOR BAND - 215 PARTICIPANTS FROM KANSAS SCHOOLS PERFORMED BEFORE 1200 PATRONS AT LIED CENTER, UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS


HAWKINS SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS - WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIAOSWALD PRIZE - INCLUDES CONVENTION EXPENSE - PRESENTED THROUGH THE AMERICAN BANDMASTERS ASSOC (ABA) CONVENTION FOR COMPOSITION. PAYMENT IS TO THE AMERICAN BANDMASTERS ASSOC.MULTIPLE AWARDS PROGRAMS TO RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS WITHIN THE SENIOR HIGH AND JUNIOR HIGH BANDS AND OTHER REGIONAL NOMINEES.
