TEXAS BANDMASTERS ASSN., INC. IS A PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR BAND DIRECTORS IN EDUCATION. THEIR ANNUAL CONVENTION PROVIDES A FORUM FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION AND PEER NETWORKING IN THIS FIELD OF ENDEAVOR. IT ALSO PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VENDORS OF SHEET MUSIC, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND OTHER PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TO FAMILIARIZE THIS CONSTITUENCY WITH THEIR OFFERINGS.
THE ORGANIZATION PUBLISHES A BOOKLET AND CONVENTION PROGRAMS AND JOURNALS FOR THE CONVENTION GERMANE TO THE PURPOSES OF THE GATHERING. IT ADDRESSES TIMELY TOPICS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES PRIMARILY FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEMS.
THE MALCOLM HELM SCHOLARSHIP AND ALFRED F. STURCHIO SCHOLARSHIP ARE EACH AWARDED ANNUALLY TO AN OUTSTANDING UNDERGRADUATE WIND OR PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT PLAYER MAJORING IN MUSIC EDUCATION AT A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN TEXAS. THE RECIPIENT MUST HAVE COMPLETED A MINIMUM OF SIXTY HOURS BY THE END OF THE SPRING SEMESTER WITH A MINIMUM GPA OF 3.0 ON A 4.0 SYSTEM. THE CRITERIA FOR AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIP ARE MUSICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, POTENTIAL SUCCESS IN THE TEACHING PROFESSION, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES. FAMILY MEMBERS OF OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AND EMPLOYEES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS AWARD.
TEXAS BANDMASTERS ASSOCIATION, INC. HAS BEEN APPROVED AND REGISTERED AS A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION (CPE) PROVIDER BY THE TEXAS STATE BOARD FOR EDUCATION CERTIFICATION. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS CONTINUING EDUCATION CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO IMPROVE THE SKILLS OF MUSIC EDUCATORS.
