Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE SOUTH FULTON INSTITUTE MISSION IS TO BE A REGIONAL CATALYST FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF ART, EDUCATION, AND THE ENVIRONMENT ENRICHING LIVES AND COMMUNITIES. WE ENVISION A WORLD WHERE THE ARTS INTERSECT WITH THE EDUCATION AND THE ENVIRONMENT REACHING FROM SOUTH FULTON TO ATLANTA AND BEYOND. WE SEEK TO CREATE AN ARTISTIC ENVIRONMENT THAT MODELS HUMANITY, IS SOCIALLY JUST, IS REFLECTIVE OF, AND CELEBRATES THE REGIONAL DIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES AND OUR INCREASINGLY GLOBAL COMMUNITY. BY ACTIVELY REFUTING ANY NOTIONS OF INEQUITY AND INEQUALITY, WE SEEK TO DECENTER WHITENESS, PATRIARCHY, ABLEISM, BINARY GENDER CONSTRUCTS, AND OTHER TOOLS OF SYSTEMIC OPPRESSION. WE ACKNOWLEDGE AND HONOR THE IDENTITIES AND LIVED EXPERIENCES OF OUR COMMUNITY.THEREFORE, WE INVEST THE APPROPRIATE TIME, MONEY, CARE, AND RESPECT NECESSARY TO REFLECT AND RESPECT THE VALUE OF THE STORIES WE CHOOSE TO TELL, AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN TELLING THEM.WE COMMIT TO REMAINING MINDFUL ABOUT HOW OUR ART FITS IN THE CURRENT AND EVER-CHANGING SOCIO-POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND WE WILL REEVALUATE OUR WORK AT THE END OF EVERY SEASON TO ENSURE THAT OUR ART IS AUTHENTICALLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY.AS SUCH, WE COMMIT TO PROGRAMMING THAT IGNITES COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS AND TRANSCENDS BARRIERS TO HUMAN CONNECTION.WE HAVE TWO SIGNATURE PROGRAMS: CREATE AND COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS. CREATE IS A PARTNER PROGRAM WHERE WE COLLABORATE WITH LOCAL ARTISTS, ARTS NONPROFITS, AND SCHOOLS TO PRODUCE FREE ACCESSIBLE ARTS PROGRAMMING. THROUGH AN OPEN APPLICATION PROCESS, WE SELECT NEW PARTNERS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS WAS DEVELOPED TO BUILD AUDIENCES IN SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, PROVIDE ARTISTIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL ARTISTS, AND TO USE ART AS THE CATALYST FOR VITAL COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS. WE ACHIEVE THIS BY PRODUCING 6-8 PORTRAIT DOCUMENTARY STYLE SHORT FILMS ABOUT LOCAL ARTISTS, PRODUCING A 4 PLAY READING SERIES WITH FACILITATED COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS, AND PRODUCING A BI-WEEKLY PODCAST FEATURING LOCAL ARTISTS.
