SHUTTLE SPINDLE & DYEPOT HGA'S MEMBERSHIP MAGAZINE PROVIDES INSPIRATION, HISTORICAL, CULTURAL, AND EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION TO HGA MEMBERS THROUGH ARTICLES FEATURING FIBER ARTISTS PROFILES; MUSEUM AND GALLERY EXHIBITIONS; ETHNIC, TRADITIONAL, AND INNOVATIVE FIBER ART AND/OR TEXTILE TECHNIQUES; APPROXIMATELY 4,000 COPIES OF THE MAGAZINE ARE PUBLISHED QUARTERLY AND OVER THE PAST YEAR WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE IN REQUESTS FOR ACCESS TO DIGITAL COPIES.
CONVERGENCE - CONVERGENCE IS A 7-DAY BIENNIAL FIBER ART CONFERENCE PRESENTED IN EVEN YEARS WITH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF THE PLANNING OCCURRING DURING ODD YEARS. THE CONFERENCE ATTRACTS MORE THAN 1,500 PARTICIPANTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR A MULTI-FACETED EXPERIENCE WITH EXHIBITIONS, VENDORS, FASHION SHOW, TOURS, WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, LECTURES, AND MORE. AT THE HEART OF CONVERGENCE IS THE SESSIONS, TAUGHT BY THE WORLDS LEADING FIBER ARTS INSTRUCTORS AS WELL AS THOSE THAT ARE UP-AND-COMING IN THE FIELD, KNOWN AS CONVERGENCE LEADERS. THE CONFERENCE INCLUDES 4 JURIED AND 2 INVITATIONAL EXHIBITS.
SMALL EXPRESSIONS - THE ORGANIZATION'S ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBIT FEATURING WORKS OF ART NO LARGER THAN 15 INCHES IN ANY DIRECTION AND MADE USING HANDWOVEN TECHNIQUES. THIS EXHIBIT PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT THEIR WORK AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE FIBER ARTS.
