ILLINOIS PARKS AND RECREATION ASSOCIATION IS ORGANIZED TO PROMOTE PROFESSIONALS IN THE ILLINOIS PARK, RECREATION, AND CONSERVATION COMMUNITIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
IPRA PROGRAMS AND WORKSHOPS - IPRA OFFERS SEVERAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS INCLUDING, CERTIFIED PLAYGROUND SAFETY INSPECTOR (CPSI),CERTIFIED PARK AND RECREATION PROFESSIONAL (CPRP), AND CERTIFIED PARK AND RECREATION EXECUTIVE (CPRE). THE CPSI PROGRAM CERTIFIES INDIVIDUALS TO INSPECT PLAYGROUNDS FOR SAFETY HAZARDS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH NATIONAL STANDARDS SET BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS AND CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION. THE CPRP CERTIFICATION IS THE NATIONAL STANDARD FOR ALL PARKS AND RECREATION PROFESSIONALS WHO WANT TO BE AT THE FOREFRONT OF THEIR PROFESSION. FINALLY, THE CPRE PROGRAM IS A NEW CERTIFICATION THAT ESTABLISHES A NATIONAL STANDARD FOR MANAGERIAL, ADMINISTRATIVE,AND EXECUTIVE PARKS AND RECREATION PROFESSIONALS.
EDUCATION AND CONFERENCE - IPRA HOSTS AN ANNUAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE ATTENDED BY OVER 4,200 ATTENDEES AND EXHIBITORS WHO PARTICIPATE IN ABOUT 150 EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS. IPRA ALSO CONDUCTS THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL WHICH PROVIDES PARK AND RECREATION PROFESSIONALS ACROSS ILLINOIS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION TO GAIN THE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE BASE, AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES NEEDED FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT.
SECTION EVENTS SUCH AS SENIOR GAMES, PARK PURSUIT, TEEN SKI TRIP,AND VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS PROVIDE RECREATIONAL AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE MEMBERSHIP. THESE EVENTS WERE ATTENDED BY OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS AND OVER 40 TEAMS.
