NOURISHING GENERATIONS OFFERS SCIENCE-BASED, PROFESSIONAL NUTRITION EDUCATION, HANDS-ON COOKING, AND FITNESS CLASSES DESIGNED TO DEVELOP HEALTHY EATING AND FITNESS HABITS CONTRIBUTING TO LIFELONG HEALTH BENEFITS. NOURISHING GENERATIONS IS ON THE FRONT LINES OF AMERICAS WELL-DOCUMENTED NUTRITIONALLY FOCUSED OBESITY AND DIABETES CRISIS, OFFERING OUR PROGRAMS IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SINCE 2011. WE REACH COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHERE THEY ARE, OFFERING OUR COURSES AT NUMEROUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY INCLUDING SCHOOLS, AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMUNITIES, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS. WE SERVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT POPULATIONS, FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN GRADES K-5, TRANSITION-AGE FOSTER YOUTH (AGED 18-24 YEARS),WOMEN LIVING WITH CANCER, AND SENIOR CITIZENS.THIS COMING SCHOOL YEAR, WE ARE EXPANDING OUR PROGRAMS FOR LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, PRESENTING MORE THAN 200 CLASS SESSIONS FOR OVER 550 STUDENTS. OUR TRANSITION-AGE YOUTH HAS ALSO GROWN THIS YEAR FROM SUMMER CLASSES TO YEAR-ROUND LEARNING, AND OUR SENIOR PROGRAM IS ALSO ADDING NEW CLASS DATES. THE MAJOR FUNDING FOR CURRENT PROGRAMS IS PROVIDED BY CORE INVESTMENT (CITY AND COUNTY OF SANTA CRUZ), PAJARO VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, CAROLINES NONPROFIT THRIFT, AND RALEYS.
