CURRICULUM SUPPORTING PROGRAMS: CHEZA NAMI ARTISTS PROVIDED 450 CURRICULUM SUPPORTED PROGRAMS SERVICING 16,500 PEOPLE THROUGH ASSEMBLIES AND COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES TO PRESCHOOLS, ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, AS WELL AS MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE BAY AREA. THESE COMMUNITIES WERE EXPOSED TO AFRICAN CULTURE THROUGH INTERACTIVE DANCE, MUSIC, GAMES, AND INSTRUMENTS WITH DRUMMING AND DANCE PRESENTATIONS BY PROFESSIONAL AND VOLUNTEER ARTISTS.


PAID AND REDUCED COST COMMUNITY PROGRAMS: CHEZA NAMI ARTISTS PROVIDED 19 PAID PROGRAMS SERVICING 1,100 PEOPLE THROUGH DRUMMING AND DANCE WORKSHOPS. THESE ARE MULTI-HOUR/DAY COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION CLASSES WHERE CHILDREN AND/OR ADULTS ARE AFFORDED AFRICAN CULTURAL EXPERIENCES THROUGH AFRICAN SONGS, LANGUAGE, GAMES, MUSIC, DRUMMING AND AFRICAN THEMED STORIES.


FREE COMMUNITY OUTREACH: CHEZA NAMI AND ITS PARTNER ARTISTS PROVIDED 3 FREE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS SERVICING 2,613 PEOPLE. PROGRAMS INCLUDED DRUM AND DANCE CIRCLE, ALL OF WHICH WERE OPEN AND INCLUSIVE FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS WERE AFFORDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE AFRICAN MUSIC AND DANCE, CULTURE ALL WHILE LEARNING THE BASICS OF AFRICAN DRUMMING AND DANCE. DRUMS AND INSTRUMENTS WERE PROVIDED FOR PARTICIPANTS USE.
