THE FIRST TEE OF GREATER HOUSTON PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WHEREBY ADULT MENTORS POSITIVELY IMPACT THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE HOUSTON AREA BY BUILDING CHARACTER, INSTILLING LIFE-ENHANCING VALUES, AND PROMOTING HEALTHY CHOICES THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF.

THE FIRST TEE LIFE SKILL EXPERIENCE TEACHES PARTICIPANTS, AGES 7-18, THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MAKING DECISIONS, SETTING GOALS, AND TRANSFERRING VALUES SUCH AS RESPONSIBILITY, HONESTY, AND RESPECT FROM THE GOLF COURSE TO EVERYDAY LIFE. THIS CURRICULUM IS CURRENTLY PROVIDED AT EIGHT GREEN GRASS FACILITIES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES THE NATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAM OF THE FIRST TEE IN 29 SCHOOL DISTRICTS PLUS SEVERAL PRIVATE SCHOOLS. TEACHERS ARE TRAINED BY CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS FROM THE FIRST TEE HEADQUARTERS IN ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA. THESE PROGRAMS REACH OVER 300,000 CHILDREN EACH YEAR.
