GET READY FEST: IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021, THE MALCOM JENKINS FOUNDATION ("TMJF") PRESENTED THE "GET READY FEST" A COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES EVENT DEDICATED TO PROVIDING COMMUNITY WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS OF THE NEWARK, NJ COMMUNITY. THIS EVENT WAS HELD AT THE CITYPLEX 12 THEATER CO-OWNED BY NBA HALL OF FAMER SHAQUILLE O' NEAL. THE MALCOLM JENKINS FOUNDATION JOINED FORCES WITH GOODR AND SOCIAL SERVICE COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY LIVING AND EATING BY PROVIDING FAMILIES IN NEED WITH HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS. THIS PARTNERSHIP COLLECTIVELY ADDRESSED FOOD INSECURITY VIA A POPUP GROCERY STORE. THE EVENT SERVED 1,200 FAMILIES THOUGH A WALK-UMODEL WITH FREE GROCERIES DISTRIBUTING 48,000 MEALS. RECIPIENTS RECEIVED FRESH PRODUCE, SHELF STABLE ITEMS, MEATS AND SEAFOOD, MILK AND NONDAIRY MEALS.


MALCOLM JENKINS SCHOLARS:TMJF AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOLSENIORS PARTICIPATING IN THE FOUNDATION'S PROJECT R.E.W.A.R.D.S. PROGRAM (REINFORCING EDUCATION WITH ACTIVITIES, RECREATION AND DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORTS) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COLLEGE TRACK NEW ORLEANS AT ITS LAUNCH TO COLLEGE AND CAREER CELEBRATION. THE FOUNDATION HONORED 12 OF THE 59 GRADUATING SENIORS WITH A $2,000 SCHOLARSHIP TOWARD ENHANCING THEIR COLLEGE EDUCATION. IN ADDITION TO THE ONE-TIME SCHOLARSHIP, EACH WINNING SCHOLAR RECEIVED A GIFT BOX INCLUDING A SPECIAL I.M.P.A.C.T. COLLECTION BOW TIE FROM MALCOLM JENKINS'S CUSTOM CLOTHING COMPANY, DAMARI, SYMBOLIZING THE FOUNDATION'S COMMITMENT TO HELPING YOUTH EMBRACE THEIR INDIVIDUALITY, BE MOTIVATED, HAVE PURPOSE, ADVOCATE, BE CONDENT AND THRIVE. ALL 59 SENIORS WERE PROVIDED SWAG BAGS CONTAINING GIFTS FROM TMJF, AND AFRICAN ANCESTRY, TO HELP STUDENTS DIVE DEEPER INTO LEARNING ABOUT THEIR HERITAGE. THROUGH TMJF'S COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP WITH COLLEGE TRACK, MORE THAN $175,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO DATE, ALLEVIATING THE BURDEN OF COSTLY EXPENSES SUCH AS BOOKS, SUPPLIES AND OTHER FEES THAT COME WITH ATTENDING COLLEGE OR A UNIVERSITY.


HOLIDAY DINNER BASKET SURPRISE: 12/2021 TMJF HOSTED ITS ANNUAL HOLIDAY DINNER BASKET SURPRISE COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT TO FEED A TOTAL OF 540 FAMILIES IN NEED ACROSS FOUR DIFFERENT STATES IN COMMUNITIES OF NEWARK, NJ; COLUMBUS, OH; NEW ORLEANS, LA; AND PHILADELPHIA, PA TMJF VOLUNTEERS PACKED AND FESTIVELY WRAPPED DINNER BASKETS TO DISTRIBUTE TO FAMILIES IDENTIED BY THE FOUNDATION'S LOCAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
